Eagles Release Trotter

Featured Replies

Trotter is a fine player but his knees have been a mess for a few years now. I saw a segment about him 2 years ago, and he usually can't even get around until mid week.

That is sad that a 30 year old man is in that kind of shape.

If the money was right and he could pass a physical I might take a flyer.
I agree. You don't pay him pro bowl money because of his knee problems. But if it gives us some potential at LB and allows Trotter to continue playing in the NFL, why not make an offer?
Through history, Trotter is either hit or miss.

If Cincy is planning on having a pressing defense with a lot of blitzes and it does not require a lot of reading of defenses, then he is a good fit. Philly originally released him because of money and out of control playing style. In Washington he improved under Gregg Williams and it showed on the field when returning to Philly.

If he improved so much while under Gregg Williams, then why did the Redskins release him? His only good years have been each time when he was with the Eagles...

He didn't do much for the Skins, he's been good during both tenures in Philly. Maybe it's a system thing for Trotter.

I think he would also help Brooks down the road teaching him things if we got him.

Improved in the sense he became more under control and able to read plays more effectively... which for the Eagles made him a good fit. He will be the first to admit playing in Washington brought him more under control. Still a relatively wild player.

The Eagles are very comfortable cap wise... I don't think it was money.

It almost definitely wasn't the money.

He will be a great pickup for anyone.

There are plenty of teams out there that should be interested in him. He will sign somewhere not 100% sure who will but he is to good not to go after.

In past years, he has been a monster. I think that he could help the Bengals. Just seeing his style of play could be a learning experience for the younger players.

Lets face it with the Bengals defense it couldn't hurt.

They picked up Lamar Marshall today so you can count out Trotter...
