Do you feel as if Corbin will eb a better running team than Russell was when they met Belfry in the playoffs? With Belfry's front 7 back their run defense will be VERY tough, and if you recall Belfry was pretty daggone tough for Russell to run on in the playoffs.

The Pirates only return one full-time starting DB (although Preston saw a ton of time at last year), if anything it is the Pirate secondary that will be the weak spot.

Corbin is a different kind of running team than Russell. Corbins power running game could be dominant, if they give the ball to Campbell and let him run behind a very good offensive line.

Belfry's speed in the front seven gave Russell fits. Russell was running alot of traps and sweeps. In Campbell Corbin has a big back that can bang away at the middle and negate that speed advantage. I think he is every bit as impressive, if not more so, than May.

To answer your question, yes, they could be. That big back and big offensive line could counter Belfry's speed and allow Corbin to control the clock and the LOS. If Corbin gets pass happy than Cashen will be running for his life and eventually make a mistake.

:thumb: , I see your points. This Belfry defense is going to be downright nasty by season's end, especially against the run, but if there is one thing about this squad it is that they will not be winning any contests for looking big and mean. Quickness and swarming to the ball is definately Belfry's forte' on defense.

Belfry 34

Corbin 12

Should be a good one to early for much o I say Redhounds 20 The big B 17

I think this will be a good even game, who wins will depend on the Redhound injury situation, if they have their players back then they should win in a close game, if not Belfry could win. The trip will play a factor, although Corbin does travel well, as most all the Corbin fans will travel with them, but that is a LONG trip and if it is hot it could come down to conditioning.

My gut tells me that it will be close but the travel and the injuries will be too much for Corbin to over come. If it was in Corbin I would pick Corbin but on the road in Pike County I have to go with Belfry.

Good point, I deeply respect Corbin, but I have to take Belfry by 8

Corbin needs to run the ball a lot better this year to keep their D off the field so much. If they can run it effectively against Belfry and shore up a couple of spots on the defense they have a good shot at winning.

Belfry 20 Corbin 14

Very close.

I agree with TRUE REDHOUND this will be a close game.Belfry will still be working people in and out to see what FITS and this is a GOOD thing You become very UNPREDICTIBLE.I think Belfry will have a weak spot in the Secondary as well,BUT THEY WILL WIN by 1 TD

Just an interesting tidbit from the today's Apallachian News Express. Former Miami Dolphins QB and current co-owner of the East Kentucky Miners CBA basketball team, Jay Fiedler will be taking in the game.

I personally think this one will be too close to call... had Belfry returned more experience in their secondary and another O-lineman then it would be no-brainer.. but as it stands Corbin matche sup very well with the Pirates.

Any injury reports in Redhound Country? I know the Pirates are definately without Zach Smith, their 6'4 Split End who is one of their top reserves at that position, also Will Southerland, our top returning O-lineman Will Southerland is going to be almost a gametime decision.

This one should be a great 1st week matchup.

Belfry by 4.

That Fielder story is pretty cool.

Win or lose I just hope Belfry plays well on the LOS. If they control the line and move the ball well on offense, but lose because the secondary doesn't carry the water, thats OK with me because the secondary is young and should improve as the year wears on.

I think Corbin's passing game will overwhelm the Belfry secondary. Corbin 21 Belfry 7

It's not that interesting. He's just there to promote the Miners and try to sell season tickets....He's going to be at Pikeville Saturday night also.
