Intriguing Week One Matchups

Bardstown vs. Nelson Co.

HUGE RIVALRY!!!!

Some rivalry....

2006: 28-0 Bardstown

2005: 42-0 Bardstown

2003: 29-0 Nelson

2002: 42-16 Nelson

2001: 54-14 Bardstown

1999: 42-14 Nelson

1998: 42-7 Nelson

The only exceptions were 2004 and 2000, when the games were close. Other than it's been one team blowing out the other. Not a huge rivalry per se, but you get my point.

East Jessamine has enough speed to match any one they meet this year. Fairly young ball club but expectations are high for them doing well.

No disrespect meant when I say this, none whatsoever, but East's overall team speed isn't anywhere close to Western's. Believe me, that's not a knock either, because Western had last year and will have this year as much TEAM speed at each position than any team, any class. We all know that SPEED alone can't count for everything, it counts for a lot, but not everything. East does have the makings for a good ball club, you're exactly right about that!:thumb:

I see the Montgomercy Co / GRC match up in the Rec. Bowl on Aug 25th as a good one. This will be a very tough contest given the schools rivalry in the past. This will also be a great view of what to expect for the rest of the season (For both schools). I look for a physical contest, with GRC pulling away late in the game.

:thumb: Agreed, big rivals, will be a very entertaining game to say the least.

^I loved my home stadium, but it was very 'historic' to be kind, it was partially condemned my junior year, and we had a very pronounced crown also. I just remember the atmosphere was excellent and by field I meant the stadium set up in general, but the field from my memory was nice, I played there in 2000.

In 2000 the field was in pretty good shape as I recall. Very thick grass, a few years later it became a dirt pit at the same time of year though.

I would think that the Bell Co. and Lincoln Co. game would make for a good matchup.

And not just on the field...kids on both sides goes all out.

Manual and Louisville Central should be a very interesting matchup as both teams have been getting a great degree of good press over the summer.
I'm obviously biased, but I think this will be a very "Telling" game for the season.

Agree with Gold Sunrise. GRC/Montgomery Co. has develpoed into a huge game for both programs (Regardless of which sport). I look for both teams to be fired up and come hitting hard.

Holmes vs. Dayton at Dayton. Former Dayton coach Steve Lickert brings his Bulldogs to Dayton. Dayton will be pumped to play.

Raceland at Ashland - last season Raceland's opening week win over Ashland set the tone for a very sucsessful Ram season.

Holmes @ Dayton

even though the class sizes are a big differential, Lickert was in the process of building a winner when he left for that bigger school. Ironic that his first game will come against his former team, and you can bet they know it...

That was actually my thought as well. I think both teams can learn a whole lot from this game. I think it will likely be a closer game than St.X-Ballard will be, but at the same time I know Trinity will be facing both of those squads this season so I am kind of torn.

Tates Creek at Campbell Co. This will be a great test for both teams. Ty Sparks is one the top RB in Lexington.

In NKY, HHS vs Ryle will be a good game IMO. And although CCH will have their hands full, but CCH vs LaSalle could also be a good game because Brossart will have those kids ready to play.

The two games Im looking forward to seeing are Boyle Co vs Bowling Green and Highlands vs Ryle
