I really think East Jess will surprise in 4-A but do they have the speed to match up with Western?

If they don't have the speed to match up with Western, they don't have the ability to surprise in 4A.

Bardstown vs. Nelson Co.

HUGE RIVALRY!!!!

Bardstown vs. Nelson Co.

HUGE RIVALRY!!!!

Can Nelson get the win this season? I've heard that Nelson should be improved this year and it seems like Bardstown's youth might lead them to struggle early on.

I think the Highlands vs. Ryle game is a good first week match up. The programs haven't played one another for quite some time. When they last played, Ryle was very competitive with the Birds from what I recall. With Ryle going to state last year and a pretty good team expected for this year, I'm sure the Ryle kids will want to upset the Birds to show the state that last year's trip to Lou. was not a scheduling fluke and that the Ryle program is back. The Birds will be motivated to show Ryle just whom is the King of the Hill in N. Ky. I expect a hard fought, hard hitting, low score game. Should be a doozy.

Bardstown's youth? They have 14 seniors.

^I loved my home stadium, but it was very 'historic' to be kind, it was partially condemned my junior year, and we had a very pronounced crown also. I just remember the atmosphere was excellent and by field I meant the stadium set up in general, but the field from my memory was nice, I played there in 2000.

The reason for my comment is Dixie's field has never been that 'great'. Unless playing there very early in the season, the field was usually pretty tore up, especially between the hashes. And the crown was probably one of the worst in NKY. The setup was actually kinda nice for what the school was back then as they place never sold out. Heck, where else can you kick a field goal and hit a car sitting in a fast food drive thru? However, the program finally outgrew that stadium and they now have a pretty nice facility. If you haven't made the trip back recently, you should see the place now.

Gallatin/Carroll

The rivalry is huge!!

Bullitt East vs. Woodford County should be an interesting clash of styles

Bardstown's youth? They have 14 seniors.

My apologies. I was under the impression they were starting a bunch of young guys. That might have been last year. Must be getting old! :thumb:

Mason County vs. Paris

According to Paris' coach, through the grapevine, his team is going to make an EXAMPLE out of Dave Buchanan's Mason County Royals. That Paris is going to smash Mason County. It is intriguing as coach Buchanan and his father have the most respect and heavy ties to Paris as they coached there. The new coach comes in and makes some bold statements and slaps coach Buchanan and his father in the face?????IMO. Gonna be a grudge match.:fight:

Western lost all its speed, right?

Nope, even close. They have as much speed this year as they did last. Just inexperienced. They can fly.

I see the Montgomercy Co / GRC match up in the Rec. Bowl on Aug 25th as a good one. This will be a very tough contest given the schools rivalry in the past. This will also be a great view of what to expect for the rest of the season (For both schools). I look for a physical contest, with GRC pulling away late in the game.

I agree ...these two schools are huge rivals. Will be a great game to watch.:thumb:

East Jessamine has enough speed to match any one they meet this year. Fairly young ball club but expectations are high for them doing well.

Manual and Louisville Central should be a very interesting matchup as both teams have been getting a great degree of good press over the summer.

In 1a one of the best matchups is Pikeville vs. Louisville Holy Cross in the Pike Co. Bowl. 2 top 10 teams squaring off in the first week of the season. Should be a good one. Belfry vs. Corbin is also one Im looking forward to watching. Matchup wise this years Pike Co. Bowl may be the best in recent memory.
