Ryle/CovCath Scrimmage

Featured Replies

I would like to see these two schools possibly someday renew what was once a pretty good series of games in the regular season.

1998- Cov. Cath 14-13 3APlayoffs- Cov. Cath 28-14

1999- Ryle 25-20

2000- Cov. Cath 18-15

2002- Ryle 27-22

I think CCH leads the overall series 6-2, but you're right....almost all the games have been competitive.

You may very well be right. But I don't think that Ryle showed them much Saturday morning. They only ran 6 plays and 2 offensive sets. Highlands was there watching of course.

I understand that might be replying to Ru's post, but i would almost bet Highlands was there more for CCh than Ryle. Sure, we got both birds with one stone since we play you guys in a couple weeks. But whenever CCh is playing, Highlands people are usually not very far away.:sssh:

We'll see what happens out at Ryle in a couple weeks. I'll take the Raiders in a mild upset.

I don't think it we be an upset. Heck you guys are the 6A team!!!:D

It will be a good game birds by three TDs.

Seabass said that!!!!!:laugh:

Not at all.

Unless Ryle improves a lot on offense over the next two weeks they will really struggle to score against the Birds.

I agree. While they changed their look a bit by running that direct snap play , I didn't see a lot of difference in style. I saw no real passing game nor many weapons on the outside unless you count the lob pass to #18.

Speed is decent. Its going to be very difficult for them to get outside.

No doubt about that.

I'd prefer to see a scrimmage set up in a non-game situation. CCH hardly ran any plays. They seemingly went 3 and out twice and then had a kickoff return for a TD which , again, prevented the offense from working on anything.

No, it would be an upset. 5A vs 6A. Smaller schools shouldn't compete. Heck doesn't Ryle have like 90+ players out there? That will tough to compete with or at least it should.

Defending state runner-ups, The boys from Ryle are for real. I believe that Highlands may overlook these guys. No, I take that back. The Birds coaching staff will not let that happen. It will be a Battle, but the Birds should prevail. 38-14

Mild upset? Come on, lets be real here.... HHS will beat the team that I saw play CovCath Saturday by whatever the score they want, and if it is less than three touchdowns, it will be a moral victory for Ryle. Ryle isn't the team they were last year (not even close at this point) and neither from what I saw of CovCath Saturday, are they. I love CovCath and am as big of a fan as there is, but.......HHS is as good as they have been in years and years...... It will be a dream season for HHS....

Remember the scrimmage game last year pitted the 3A State Champion and the 4A State Runner-up. It was a scrimmage that both teams impressed me, but this year? Well neither team is even close to what they were last year, and that is okay, as last year it was CovCath and Ryle turn to have that dream season.

Will CovCath have a winning season? My guess is that CovCath will have a losing season, due to their schedule. I could see a losing season, not because they are bad but because of the quality of the teams from top to bottom that they are playing this year....

@ Nippert LaSalle Loss

NCC Win......In a very close game

@Dixie Loss

Scott Win

HHS Loss.....Blow out and HHS will run up the score....

Beechwood Win.....Upset.....First night game ever at CovCath, Coach Brossart first game against his old High School, Senior night, and 40th year for Football at CovCath.... It will be a very emotional game for the Colonels.

@The Pit Elder Loss

@Holmes Win

@Columbus St. Charles Loss

@Louisville St. X Loss

That's only 4 wins and 6 losses, but they make the playoffs and upset Dixie, then lose to HHS at HHS..... IMO, only HHS in NKy would have a winning record with this schedule. I could see HHS even with the outstanding team they will have this season, only going 6-4.

I don't think the kids at Highlands are any more or less athletic then the kids at Ryle. Both teams have good coaching. Highlands has a winning tradition,

Ryle is just starting to build theirs. I'll give the Raiders a narrow win on their home field.

TOG,

Ryle got literally killed last year in the scrimmage vs. CovCath and looked terrible. Not sure what you are remembering but your statement is totally incorrect. This past Saturday, CovCath had 4 yards net offense, 1 or 2 first downs, 0 completed passes, no sustained drives yet Ryle moved the ball, completed passes, had first downs and looked almost as bad. Interesting that you say the Birds will name the score vs. Ryle in the season opener. Have a great week!
