Ryle/CovCath Scrimmage

Featured Replies

This was essentially a game with live special teams and 4 quarters of play. Ryle won 10 to 7.

Both teams played well on defense and both teams have a lot of work to do on offense.

Buckley returned a kick off for CCH's score and he looked very fast.

Ryle's score came at the start of the second half after CCH turned the ball over inside the 10.

Ryle's offense is much more creative than in the past under this coaching staff and it should pay off in the end once the players have command of the offense.

Agree, G. Both Os struggled a bit. CCH is still trying to develop the new line into a unit. IF they can just give Buck a whole, they'll be fine.

I didn't even recognize Buck due how much stronger he's gotten and his speed on that return was unreal. He's legit.

CCH D looked pretty good considering they're all new.

Ryle's kicking game is very good. The punter was outstanding.

#18 for Ryle can be a big weapon.

CCH qb sitch looks like its still not completely settled. My guess is we'll see what we saw today - Ice and Furnish.

HOT!!

Hard to get much from this one other than its a good to get started.

How many starters returned for Cov Cath?

On O - Buck and Schulte.

D - Brueggeman, Van Sant (hurt currently), and Furnish.

One more thing because I think it is the million dollar question, Highlands looks three touchdowns better than either CCH or Ryle right now. Beechwood would be in the mix with CCH and Ryle but I would give the Tigers a slight edge right now over either team.

Thanks. I'm sure CCH will improve. You guys got a new coach as well, correct?

So Ryle has decided to throw the ball a little more this year? No more wishbone double tight, or at least not as much?

CCH's new coach played at Beechwood and Gtown. Very good player. He also was the head coach at Finneytown, OH the last two or three years.

Ryle ran most of their plays out of shotgun with one and two back sets. Lots of hocus pocus too.

I think that Highlands is a 5 or 6 TD favorite right now over Ryle.:sssh:

How did DC look at running back?

Sounds like Nebraska's evolution from Frank Solich to Bill Callahan, sans a coaching change.

Wow! I'm sure the folks in Ft. Thomas will be happy to hear that. :thumb:

I can see the advantages of running a scrimmage as a regular game. However, CCH spent most of the game on defense. I guess it points out your weakness, but if the idea of a srimmage is to get a good number of reps on both sides of the ball, then it did not work.

I thought both teams defenses looked good. Ryles offense is further along than CCHs. Ryle sure likes the direct snap to their running backs, as they ran it at least 8 times.

I am not playing games and I am not trying to give the Raiders locker room material. What I am doing is giving an honest assessment of where the two teams are at right now.

If anyone wants to be funny please go to the General Discussion forum, this forum is for serious football talk.

So what is CCH focusing their offense on so far? Buckley running the ball? Brossart being a former lineman may want to jump on this kid's back and ride him til the cows come home this year. Young QB with little experience may be tough for the Colonels.

The CCH offense is wide open but it broke down today on many levels.
