August 6, 200719 yr With that said, in a given years time, we are going to experience about 75 days of brutal hot heat; in that one cannot go out and complete simple tasks or stand around without passing out. I am being very generous with this number (probably lower), but we may get 25 days of brutal cold weather where nothing can get done. Here in the North, it is cold, gray and miserable from September to May. It is often so cold that the walk from the car to the office is unbearable with the moisture in my nose freezing. For those reasons, I don't complain about hot weather. I tolerate it. The cold weather I do complain about and threaten move every winter in the midst of my SAD (Seasonally Affected Disorder) episodes. I like sunlight and the warmth of the sun. I like walking with shorts and a t-shirt. I like eating outdoors. If I have to tolerate 90+ degrees to do it, then I am willing to pay that price.

August 7, 200719 yr 5 days in Grand Haven, MI on Lake Michigan in heat about 10 degrees less(at least) has spoiled me. This temperature is NOT fun in KY. Not much of beach here anyway, not worth the trouble in this part of the country.
August 7, 200719 yr The heat index is suppose to be 108 today, Wednesday, and 111 on Thursday!!! I think the humidity is worse than the heat... PS:My A/C decided to go out last night also...it was 82 in the house all night! That sucked!

I just checked Channel 6 where you are it shows 90 degrees with 56% humidity so the heat index (feels like) is 99. Using the same site Tampa is 89 with 71% humidity and a heat index of 103. That's what humidity can do. I can't walk out to my car without drenching my shirt and it's hasn't rained yet. When that happens, it'll cool about 3 or 4 degrees during the rain then shoot back up into the 90s and the humidity will go to 80%. It turns everything into a sauna. The air is so heavy, you can't breath. I hate this time of year. My electric bill last month was $275. I'll trade ya. Right now anyway. I'm going to be up there in a couple of weeks and I can't wait.

I do not think the WPSD weather website is working correctly. I just typed in my zip code in Murray and it has us at 99 degrees (with humidity feels like 103). I would be able to tell if it was only 90... It is brutal outside.
August 7, 200719 yr Newschannel 6 website is usually a few hours behind...Anyway, I was relieved to find out my unit only had a cracked nodule and all the freon had leaked out. Only a service call instead of a new $3000 unit! Shewww!!!
