And I'll 3rd, 4th and 5th that one. We (Russell) were fortunate (un?) to play the LAST game at Vipperman. Of course the bench was behind the Belfrey fan's section. The game was tremendous though. Love the new stadium and carpet though. The drive is rough. (but of course We hope to make the drive again this year!!!)

I know there's an NCAA Division I field where the center of the field is much higher than the sidelines and makes it hard for visiting QB's to hit their receivers on sideline patterns. Are there any high school fields that give a similar landscape advantage to the home team?

I think most high school stadiums are so small that they aren't really very loud.

Wrong! Not a tough place to play. It is one of the best places to play. I know the Russell players love playing there. It's a great place for a football game.

I really don't find playing at "The Rock" that intimidating sorry no offense but maybe others do. Thats not saying that they are not a good team as 3wishes provided us with the stats but I just don't see it being very intimidating.

I was complementing on what a great place it is for football. I don't think you will find many ex-players that did not like the experience of playing at Putnam. Heck in 2002 Russell liked it so much they played Mason County there and loved it.

You're not serious about the Lexington school thing are you? If you are, checkout the inter-city matchups/ rival games. It gets even better when the Rocks come to town.

 

I'm sorry, but I have been to games at Dunbar, Tates Creek, and Henry Clay multiple times and have seen inner-city rivalry games. The atmosphere isn't what it is at the schools I named. The football is great. There is great talent and athleticism on the field, but the atmosphere isn't as good.

My junior year, we played at Highlands in the Champions Bowl against Beechwood. There aren't many places with that type of atmosphere, with the fans being right on top of you, the school and everything else surrounding the stadium, and playing in August at 2:00 in the afternoon:scared: The Beechwood fans were quite the hosts as well, commenting on how glad they were to have us "country folk" up that way(or something like that) :sssh:

I have also been to these stadiums and feel that they are some what balh, compared to the other teams mentioned. It always seems to me that Lexington Schools have the best facilities but their atmosphere is awful. I have seen several games from each school in Lexington and I'd say Lexington Catholic is the best, because of the closeness tothe fans in the stands. Dunbar has crazy big bleachers on their home side, but they are so far removed from the playing field, it is as if they aren't even there.

I never played there, but watched several games at Highlands...Definitley would be a tough place to play.

I agree. If one didn't have to play against Rockcastle, it would be a very nice place to play.

The hardest place to play in NKY without a doubt is NCC's home field. And I dont mean Newport.
