August 1, 200719 yr I am VERY supprised that Krivsky did not trade Hatteburg and Conine, and either Dunn or Griffey. They have a pretty good farm system, why not make it even better with a year like this with some valuable pieces for a contender, veteran 1st basemen and a pretty young power hitter. I do not understand keeping the same exact team that had one of the worst records in the MLB and not trading any of the hitters for some young bullpen pitchers. I think that the Reds are in need of another GM? I just don't think that the Reds got any worthwhile offers. As for keeping the same team next year they should automatically get better by trading Milton in for Bailey for a full season and by taking his and Lohse's salaries off the payroll you can pick up a reliever or two. You have to keep in mind that 85 games might be enough to win this division next year. As for Dunn or Griffey any team that traded for Dunn knew that he could void his deal if he wanted so the Reds couldn't have gotten that much for him, most teams wouldn't want to be committed to Griffey for next year. Each one will bring just as much at the deadline next year. Why not give it a couple of months next year and if the team gets off to a bad start trade them then?

I think that the Reds are in need of another GM? We all want to believe it was Krivsky who didn't "pull the right lever" on certain deals. Now, if we can shed our disappointed Reds fan mentality for one second,,,,,seriously, were there that many deals that included no brainers for Hatte or Conine? And who was willing to give anything remotely equal in a trade for Dunn. Who knows what was discussed for Griffey, and perhaps Griff was asked behind the scenes about whether or not he would waive a no trade. We are all so quick to lambaste Wayne when we have no clue what was offered or not. Frankly, it seems that there was less activity as a whole this year than years passed IMO. And maybe, just maybe, we will wait until the offseason and have some addition through subtraction. And for me, I'm glad that we kept Dunn and Griff if there was no "no-brainers" on the table. As for our 1st base platoon, they're the most consistent thing we have.
August 1, 200719 yr Moves, for the sake of making them, is rarely ever a good business deal. If the Reds were in the pennant hunt, I could see more aggressive approaches and deals. Keep in mind, deals can still be made but it will affect post-season roster slots. I believe the winter months, will be more active and possibly even 1-2, over the next month. Not easy being in ownership and running a MLB franchise. It's the moves you make and the ones you don't, which often are your demise....thankless job.

I do think that he should had moved Conine at least and possiby Hatte though. I did not want to see Griffey moved at all right now and there would have to be A LOT on the table for me to move Dunn.

August 2, 200719 yr The Red Sox gave up Kason Gabbard in the deal for Gagne ... could be an interesting acquisition for the Rangers. Gabbard has pitched well in a few outings for Boston since last year.
