Since the current champ is decided by polls let's look at the total of their last 3 season's rankings according to the AP poll and see what who the current elite power programs are. We will also be able to determine if the people from across the consider the Cards a national power or if the posters on here are correct in saying it's all in our minds. Team Final Rankings in AP Poll for 04,05,06 added together USC 7 Texas 19 LSU 25 Ohio St. 26 The VILLE 31 Oklahoma 36 Florida 38 Boise St. 42 Michigan 47 Whoops there it is!!!!!! Which makes the point that most posters are trying to get across.....UL has had a great 3 year run with a top 10 finish last year. However, the rankings in question were for the last decade, not the last 3 seasons. A team that has done what UL has done for the length of time UL has is considered a program on the rise--not a perennial power. You have to do it for longer than 3 seasons, in 5 seasons this might be a moot discussion--either way.

What it says is that Louisville's conference has a team that people want to see because ESPN would not televise them if there was no market for them. After reading your remarks in this thread I would really hope that you never say anything to me about how my feelings for UK cloud my judgement. UK fans that want to continually run down anything that Louisville has accomplished have contributed greatly to my feelings for UK.
July 30, 200719 yr You're wrong about this one, Louisville's CONFERENCE is scheduling those games. I don't hear UK telling the SEC that they won't play South Carolina on a Thursday night. And before you say it, no one wants to schedule UK on those nights, not vice versa. The bottom line is that ESPN wants those Louisville games. And RRR is correct, the success scale of most UK fans (can't say all because UK fans get miffed if they are generalized) is fluid. 4 years ago Louisville's success was to be taken with a grain of salt because they weren't in a BCS conference and the bowl games they were playing in were sub-standard. Now that Louisville has shown that it can still win in a BCS conference and even win a BCS game that's not good enough. Maybe Louisville can't compete for a national title, then again maybe they can. Either way they are a darn sight closer to it then UK. Couple that with the advantages that UK has has over the years (BCS money {not one penny earned by them but BCS money none the less}, a fan base willing to embrace mediocrity, better facilities {this advantage is gone} etc.) and I would have a very hard time as a UK fan running down anything Louisville has accomplished considering they have completely overtaken UK. No, no wait I know we were on probation. Bringing UK into a debate for the sole purpose of bashing them, seems to be your normal tactic.... As a non-UK football fan I see no reason why you constantly bring them into every debate regarding UofL....

Why would I care what anyone thought of U.K. ? Especially U.L. fans. As long as I stay within the bgp guidelines I will post and say anything that I dang well please on here as others do. If someone should dispute or argue with my statements on whatever the subject may be the that is fne. Again, No One on this thread has run down what Louisville has done and accomplished, read my post as well as others. No Where will you find me sayng that U.L. was not a good football team. All that I and others have said is that U.L. should not be considered an elite program.............."now", that takes years and years of sucsess. U.L. has been fairly good over the last few years, very good last season and should be again this season. I never said anything else .

As a non U.L "anything" fan I can tell you that it is mostly bc of the attitudes from most of the U.L. fans on here being the reason that I sincerely hope that they lose in anything and everything . I will also get on here and give their due and congrats when and if they win a National Title. If you have been paying real close (not even that much) attention I have openly stated that along with being a U.K. fan that I am mostly an Ohio State Football fan along with Alabama and Georgia and U.K.. I don't have any "normal" tactics as you put it, sorry that I can't say the same for your crew :laugh: . I believe that the Cards have had better athletes and a (generally) tougher road than Boise. I honestly don't know how much Boise has coming back, and I'm guessing they're pulling in a good recruiting haul due to their success, but I doubt they have the returning numbers that UofL does. Just thinking about Louisville football (and basketball for that matter) this season puts me in a DARN good mood. I CAN'T WAIT!

It's a tough call, and if the Little Rutgers That Could HADN'T, and UofL had a perfect season as well, I don't think this would be debatable. ...sorry for the double response, I didn't think my first one got through.

What I'm saying is that your criteria could potentially eliminate the best team in college football from being a national power.
