July 29, 200719 yr If your last sentence is the case, why wouldn't Auburn agree to a home-and-home with Louisville? The biggest reason is $$$$$. Almost all the schools from the BCS would schedule 4 non-conference home games if they could do that and still make the National Title game by running the table. With the SEC Champion that is almost always the case. However, Auburn learned first hand that scheduling those easy out of conference games to grab the $$$ CAN come back to bite you if there are 3 undefeated teams.
July 29, 200719 yr  Now Louisville is an easy OOC game.... Who said that? I said that Auburn (and most of the other big time schools) would rather schedule 4 OOC Home games each year for monetary reasons. If they can still do that and be virtually assured of a berth in the National Title Game by running the table they aren't going to agree to give away a home game every other year by scheduling a team that will expect a home and home. I said that it has already burned them once when they did so. I didn't say anything about UL being an easy OOC game. You need to reread my post.
July 29, 200719 yr I just find it funny that none of those teams he mentioned would be "worried" about Louisville, yet the Cards can't get on any of those teams schedules... I don't think a team worries about a certain team any more than the next team. I think each team, if they want to be successful, gameplans and prepares for each opponent as if they were the #1 ranked team in the country. The way I see it is that they basically feel if they play their game and execute they'll win regardless of who the opponent is.
July 29, 200719 yr Who said that? I didn't say anything about UL being an easy OOC game. You need to reread my post. No one said that Joe. Imo it was very clear as to exactly what you said and meant by your statements. Some just refuse to acknowledge it or want to spin it against poor, pitiful them who always want to play the victim . This happens everytime in a thread like this when someone does not agree with them or takes a different view. ................:sssh:
July 29, 200719 yr Glad I could amuse you and others bc your group certainly has me . At no time and in no way have I said that U.L. wasn't good, they are. I just believe that they are far from elite and that they had better hang a few National titles up before they claim tradition, greatness or elite. They are better than what they have been and they are respected by others includiing myself. As for your "no team can go against the Cards with so much confidence anymore". I won't try and name them all but I can assure you that much more than few would be very confident in playing them. A poster earlier in this thread named a list of a few that would. I don't think that USC, LSU, Fla., FSU, Auburn, Ga., Ohio State, Mich amoung others would have any worries about it at all. Those type teams fear no one. Heck, I am not on a bandwagon or anything but I think that I would be safe in saying that Boise St. would not worry about U.L.. Would these teams Respect U.L??.....certainly, fear them or worry about them is laughable. JMO Fair argument. I suppose I was going for more of the gray area between fear and respect when I said that about confidence - after all, no team should or would go in a game afraid of the other team... they play for a reason. But sometimes a team is more sure of a win than against another team. For example, I'm MORE sure that UofL is going to beat Murray this year than I'm sure that they'll beat WVU. UofL certainly should be in 'less sure' end of the spectrum for probably all of the teams listed above. And if not, well, look at Miami going into the UofL game last year (just an example, I know the Hurricanes were on the downward spiral after that, but going in they were the big pick). Too much confidence against the Cards is a dangerous thing to opposing teams from what I've observed. I'd love to see another UofL/Boise matchup. That was a fun Bowl game a few years ago to watch and both programs have been improving since. Though I'd say the Cardinals have improved moreso.
July 30, 200719 yr One more top 10 team in a bowl than Louisville has beat in the last decade.Yeah but Louisville beat THAT team in a bowl didn't they.
July 30, 200719 yr Yes, but all this started when a UL fan called Boise State a "joke" after it was said that UL ranked behind Boise State. You actually hit the nail on the head, Louisville is indeed good. Last year they were exceptional--that does not make them an elite program. Are they on their way? Possibly--probably if Petrino sticks around, but only time will tell. Right now they are a program on the rise that is only 4 seasons removed from letting Miami Ohio put up 49 on them in the GMAC Bowl. That doesn't happen to elite programs. First of all I don't think that Boise State is a joke. Deuce is entitled to his opinion and while we usually agree on basics not one Louisville fan speaks for the whole base. And secondly Boise State has nothing to do with UK so I still fail to see how my statement raised the ire of UK fans. And as far as elite programs not getting beat bad in bowl games. That is not true look at Ohio State last year they were supposed to mop the floor with Florida and then got whooped. Lots of good teams get beat and beat bad in bowl games. Louisville is ranked in the top twenty over the last ten years collectively, and while I agree that year was not the brightest point, collectively Louisville has done well and that puts the Cards in the top 20 of 119 teams which by my book is pretty good.
July 30, 200719 yr Yeah but Louisville beat THAT team in a bowl didn't they. Boise State has also beaten UofL in a bowl game in the past decade....

I don't know if I could give UL the edge over them or not. It would be one heck of a game. :thumb:
July 30, 200719 yr The national cred is what the post is about. Ranked as a top 20 program is a National Power. According to whose scale? The RRR scale means national power?

Boise and Uk both went to a BCS game last year and won...And I think many would say that Boise beat the better team, except for a few...

If you go back and read my posts I said nothing derogatory about Louisville at all. Deuces post had nothing to do with me being a UK fan. Instead it was a poorly thought out, and just plain untrue observation that I disagreed with as a college football fan. Boise State has faced many of the same obstacles as UL has in gaining National respect and it was disconcerting to see a UL fan call them a joke so I called him on it. Go back and read my posts I complimented UL--I just didn't call them elite, a title I reserve for perennial National Title contenders. That is not the same as not respecting UL, however calling Boise State a joke is showing disrespect for a program that has earned it.
July 30, 200719 yr Boise State has also beaten UofL in a bowl game in the past decade.... To be fair, U of L also beat them, and more recently.
July 30, 200719 yr To be fair, U of L also beat them, and more recently. Very true, I was merely responding to a post about UofL beating Boise State recently.:thumb:
