July 28, 200719 yr Author ^IMO a National Power consists of elite teams. The only teams I consider as such are... LSU Florida Ohio State Michigan Texas Oklahoma USC I think that is a little convenient. It seems like the closer UofL gets to the top, the smaller the top gets. I don't mean to pick on you UKMustangFan, because it seems to be a common practice among many around here.
July 28, 200719 yr The national cred is what the post is about. Ranked as a top 20 program is a National Power. Well in that case, Texas Christian finsihed last season just a hair short of being a national power. I'm sorry but I don't think being top 20 makes on a national power. I'd say each season there are about half a dozen teams who have a legit chance at winning a national championship (especially since one isn't won entirely on the field). To me those are national powers.

That is classic!  :dancingpa. U.L. has had a very good 5-7 years or so.......................Period.
July 28, 200719 yr The national cred is what the post is about. Ranked as a top 20 program is a National Power. Then I guess that I could argue that last season Notre Dame finished the year as a national power. However, I don't think that I would get very far on this board.

Maybe if they were on top of the list for more than about the last 5 years they would be on that list. Of course thats just a UK fan not giving UL any respect.

There are 119 teams, you honestly mean to tell me that being ahead of 101 of them doesn't make you a national power?
