NOTRE DAME, Ind. - In the first of a series of "off-site" Fighting Irish football games, the University of Notre Dame and Washington State University will square off on Oct. 31, 2009, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Notre Dame officials expect to play one "home" game per season beginning in '09 at locations in Texas, Florida and in other cities.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan won't settle for just any opponent when its football series with Notre Dame takes a break after the 2011 season, the school's athletic director says.

Michigan will play a national power from a major conference, most likely in a home-and-home series, athletic director Bill Martin told The Ann Arbor News for a story posted on its Web site Tuesday evening.

"There are a lot of teams Michigan would like to play and who would like to play Michigan," Martin said.

Martin declined to name names but said he's been approached by several schools.

Notre Dame athletic director Kevin White last week announced that Oklahoma would replace Michigan for two years after the current contract expires.

White said the goal is to play in different parts of the country in an attempt to return Notre Dame to its independent roots.

But the rivalry isn't going to disappear.

Martin said he and White will meet soon to continue contract talks.

Unless the meal ticket's paying, I doubt I'd be there.

Does Notre Dame still get a bowl bid via the Big East Conference?

ND is playing Oklahoma in 2011 when the current contract with Michigan is up.

I wish they would add Nebraska back on that schedule:fight:

ND has a very tough, tough schedule, through there first 8 games they may be 2-6, or maybe 3-5.

They get an at large bid if they qualify

 Their football program in not a part of the Big East. They are an independent, so when bowl bids come around, they only qualify for the at large bids.

I wish they would add Nebraska back on that schedule:fight:

I do to BBF but I wouldnt if i was them either. Who wants to schedule a team thats always beating them?:sssh:

Paul Brown Stadium people (Ham. County) were trying to get a Notre Dame/ Navy game a couple of years ago but never heard anymore about it.

Nebraska is 8-7-1 vs Notre Dame all time. I wouldn't call that always.

I had no clue they even played that many times. I'd take it a lot of those were before I was even born. I know when ND had the 4 horseman that they only lost 2 games and both of those were to Nebraska or so Im told. Then at the beginning of this century they had a home an home series an huskers won both. Those are actually the only 2 games I'd even seen the two play.

Im glad you showed me the records because I wasnt aware they had played that many times. Learn something new everyday.:thumb:
