July 31, 200719 yr I did some digging for you and I believe it was 2002. WVU was bumped from the Gator Bowl by ND and had to play in the Continental Tire Bowl... Gracias, man, gracias.
July 31, 200719 yr so whats the controversy then? I thought you were saying ND received the big east bid to a bowl game as in like the auto bid to a BCS game. If ND got a bid to play in a regular bowl game ahead of a big east team.... theres no problem with that. Bigger bowls mean bigger money, and to me it's not fair that Notre Dame practically stole money from a Big East team. Look at their schedule, they're practically a Big Ten school with a Big Ten schedule so why not take the bid from there? Anyway, its water under the bridge. I'm just glad that RP and GT found that so nobody thinks I'm crazy.
July 31, 200719 yr Caught some conversation on the radio this weekend that stated the 2005 recruiting class was one of the worst in ND history and will be a big hinderance in this years success. Anyone have any more info on that? But at least Ty Willingham was able to keep his handicap in single digits.
July 31, 200719 yr Remember Weis' first year, everyone was saying that as well. They started 8-0. But look at there starting running back, wide recievers, and qb.
August 25, 200719 yr I promise you they received a bid in place of a Big East team in the 2000s. It was very contraversial, especially to WVU fans who would have had the Big East 2nd bid if Notre Dame hadn't stole it. UofL might have been in Conference USA at the time. I'm going to do some digging. Controversial to you, you mean?
August 27, 200719 yr ND is playing Oklahoma in 2011 when the current contract with Michigan is up. Thats not going to be anytime soon because according to ESPN they signed a 30 year extension.
August 27, 200719 yr Has UK ever played Notre Dame in football? I think it'd be an interesting matchup, especially this year.
August 27, 200719 yr Thats not going to be anytime soon because according to ESPN they signed a 30 year extension. I think they are still going to play, Im pretty sure they've signed a contract already. I think they were going to play OU regardless if they renewed with UM or not. Just at the time I posted that they hadnt renewed with Michigan yet.
