He makes some valid points. With only 13 spots on a roster it's playing with fire to recruit that far out if you don't have to...

It is risk versus reward on this one. The risk is getting a decent player that does not develop into a star versus the reward of getting a potential star before the other colleges get their hooks into them.

I personally would like to see a player at the junior class before getting a verbal.

:thumb: :thumb: 2010 verbals are a little redilclious IMO.

While waiting to pick up my niece from 1st grade a few months back, there was another 1st grader on the playground with a MEAN crossover, get them early.

I agree, there was another story here on this board about a 7th grader that already committed or something. Just ridiculous.

Kevin Love committed to UCLA his 8th grade year and he turned out pretty well...Dakotah Euton also had offers from Florida an Duke so we weren't the only ones who saw something in him... Let's just let everything take its course before we make such statements.

Love didn't verbal until last summer...

Exactly. We have people hyping these kids up to be the greatest thing since bud light. And it could very easily be hit or miss when you go after kids that young.

I love how Billy Clyde is going after things aggresivly but I have to agree with this article............to a point. Imo in today's recruiting wars you have to do some of the "future" recruiting but I can also see where it would get you in a bind. I will however trust in that Billy Clyde knows what he is doing. At least a lot more than anyone of us on here. He had better

How about the greatest thing since bottled water, not EVERYTHING has to be related to alcohol.

:p

I do find it interesting that a guy anonymously writing on a blog has more knowledge of who can play and who can't than a D1 head coach.

I've made this point, regarding UK fans for a long time. Some think they know more, than the coaches do.

What?

I see nothing wrong with taking verbal committments from young guys. What does it hurt?

Well, would you rather have Tubby, who was not aggresive enough, or Billy G, who is very aggresive. I see nothing wrong with his style of recruiting.
