I'm happy to say I don't have any idea what addiction's like. But if I did I wouldn't have the audacity to tell my employer (who graciously gave me a job) who they will or will not employ for my sake.

Its all about leverage, my man. If you're a lowly intern, you have none. If you're the CFO, you've got it.

Are we 100% sure that this is or was Hamilton's idea? I mean, what if it states in his contract that he HAS to have a 'babysitter' in order to be a part of the organization. His counter could've been that the team pays for it.

Possible?

IMO who the payer of such an aide is irrelevant to the conversation. We see many odd expenses that teams pay.

How many odd expenses do we see for a rookie drug addict that's still 3 years from arbitration? Truth is the guy has a "real" job title, not Josh's babysitter...

A lot of employers will help you seek treatment if you have an addiction problem.

Care to show me what qualifications Johnny Narron has as an addiction treatment specialist? Last I checked he was on payroll as a scout that dissects game tape...

Then pay for him on your own dime...

I'm sure that will free up enough money for a quality bull pen pitcher.

Exactly, and he may very well be the very best scout that dissects game tapes in the league for all we know. I see no problem w/ him being paid by the club.

Then pay for him on your own dime...

Do you know taht he hasn't offered? Are you sure that if he wasn't emplyed by the club that he wouldn't stick around to help Josh live.

I'm guessing the club doesn't mind having a babysitter around to help a young man not only play baseball but to live.

Which has nothing to do with Hobbs saying "If I'm here, he's here". If his merit at the job listed equals him staying, fine. If he's staying to babysit, it should be on Hamilton's dime...

He's never said he was a qualified addiction specialist that I've heard. Nor have I heard Hamilton say that he was.

Wher does he say the club has to pay him?

He was worried that he might be gone,” Hamilton said. “But he’s a package deal with me. If I’m here, he’s here. And that’s not just for this year. That’s for a lot of years.”

If Johnny Narron is keeping him ALIVE we are going to have a lot bigger fish to fry sooner or later...

Huh? The quote is pretty clear to me. If Hamilton was going to pay him, there is no need to address it...

He's a drug addict. If he falls off the wagon he could very well die. People who fall off the wagon usually do more durgs than when they quit. It's a disease that gets worse and worse. Part of his treatment that has him very comfortable is Narron being w/ him. It may not directly kill him, but if he went back to drugs it wouldn't be good.

He was asked a question and answered that as long as he's here Narron would be too. It never said the team better pay to keep him around. I'm quite sure that if he was let go by the team it would be very dumb, but Hamliton would ask him to stay until he was comfortable enough w/ his addiction that he didn't need or want him around.
