June 26, 200719 yr I don't know about a golf ball, but I bet you a can throw a football over them mountains.
June 26, 200719 yr Does this theory mean that you could hit a marble, say 2000 yards. A marble is a little over an inch in circumference, about a fifth the size of a golf ball. Kinda sounds like fuzzy math. You should have seen me hit that BB. I t had to have gone 1/2 mile. But you couldn't see it past 20 yards.
June 26, 200719 yr Tiger Woods can hit a golf ball 1100 to 1200 feet with his driver! No way a baseball bat hitting a golf ball can remotely come close to that, imo. The length of a driver, and the way it can bend through the swing for a snapping effect, (and more club head speed) allows for more torque in the swing. A baseball bat doesn't have that.
June 26, 200719 yr Todays softball bats have thinner walls than golf clubs, double walls that are sandwiched between rubber sleeves or a thin layer of oil for a great "trampoline" effect, and two piece bats have composite/fiberglass handle that also allow them to bend and recoil on contact.
June 27, 200719 yr There are a couple of other variables that can be thrown in here as well. With the baseball bat, is the ball stationary, like on a tee ball tee? Are you tossing it up and hitting it like a coach hitting balls to his infield? Is the ball being thrown from a certain distance and at a certain speed? All should produce different distances, but I dont necessarily know what would be farther. I would think the latter would definitely be farther than a golf club.

Only one way to know for certain, so who is going to try this test.....I'll guess here, that a golf ball can be hit 3 times further with a golf club, than with a baseball bat.

I'll let you know after Saturday... I'm going to try just throwing it up and hitting it. Soft tossing from the front and pitching it...

June 27, 200719 yr Especially with the 'crew' I'll have...Don't film that, as it may cause some future problems.... Be safe and enjoy yourself and don't take a stroll, in the neighborhood....

That's what I was wondering...there are two scenarios that I would be curious about: 1. Hitting the golf ball off of a tee with both a bat and a golf club 2. Treat the golfball like a baseball and pitch it to someone with a bat...I don't think there would be much point in trying to hit a pitch with a driver:D From a stationary position, I think the golf club would certainly win. But, supposing someone "pitched" the golf ball at 75 mph +/- (I'm not sure how fast a golf ball could be thrown) and then someone hit it on the sweet spot of a bat, it might be a surprising result. I'd love to know the result....if anyone actually does this, please give us the results.

I can see now, someone getting a pitching machine and trying to feed a golf ball through it, then trying to hit with a bat....:scared:
June 27, 200719 yr Author I'll let you know after Saturday... I'm going to try just throwing it up and hitting it. Soft tossing from the front and pitching it... YES! :dancingpa I knew if I started this thread someone on here would try it.
