I know Chris Harrison was from Lewis County, but I don't think he went to Lewis, did he?

Not taking anything away from Dalota ive read about him many times and he is without a doubt an amazing player and great job to him:thumb: , now with that said i didnt know colleges was allowed to recruit or have any contact with players before there junior season

At this point here is what I think based on what I have heard from the national guys and what I have heard here on BGP.

 

Euton is a legit D1 talent. He is also a kid that developed early and is going to have a ton of new bumps in the road every year.

 

It does sound like he's a hard working kid with a great support system.

 

His skill set (at this point) fits in well with Billy G's style of play. In a lot of ways it trumps what I hear from the recruiting experts. He's big, works hard and can stretch a defense. Can't have too much of that skill set.

 

It's also very clear this kid is going to draw more attention than any recruit in UK history. More people than ever are tuned in to every recruiting move they can get their hands on, and this is the first KY grown kid in that era going to UK.

 

In over 3 years he will make his UK debut. That's a whole lot of time for the hype machine to grow. People from every corner of the state and beyond are going to be looking for every box score. The pressure is going to be off the charts. Sad but true.

 

I really like what I've heard about his game, and also fully understand the national guys that were big on him at this time last year backing off those bold statements a bit.

 

He should be a very good fit at UK, and he'll give the program at least 3 years of maximum effort. Can't ask for much more than that. But some will. Too bad...

The Jackson kid on his team may be a liitle more advanced at this stage, but if the kid is good enough to get offers from places like Florida he is probably a good prospect.

Somewhat difficult to project what type of player he will be in the future.

His game sounds a little Matt Bonner-ish to me.

Havent seen him play but with he and Jackson on the same team you would think Rose Hill would be pretty good. Heard that not much defense is played at Rose Hill.

Still has a long time to develop.

He plays for the OBC Adidas Kentucky Patriots since 2004.

Dakotah's older brother Darryl Arbaugh played for Ashland, and has been named among the top 25 players of all-time in one of the most tradition rich H.S. programs in the state and nation. Darryl earned a full D-1 ride to Furman. I don't recall his playing height and weight, but he currently stands about 6' 7" or so, and weighs in at a muscular 280+. He was an outstanding post player, but looks like he would also make an outstanding NFL lineman or defensive end. :eek:

 

I post all this to point out that Dakotah just turned 16. He's 6' 8" and a lean 220 lbs. He works his butt off, and will hit the weight bench hard for the next three years. At the very least, Coach G has secured himself a 6' 8" 240+ college freshman that will be benching around 300 lbs and able to post up SEC big boys, while at the same time being able to step out and knock down 25 footers. If he continues to grow, he could end up at 6' 10" with similar strength and weight numbers.

 

Either way, you can count on Euton arriving ready to play and contribute right out of the gate. Give this kid time to mature over the next three years and I honestly don't think that comparisons to Issel will be out of the question over the next 4 to 7 years. :thumb:

I hear he is being compared to the likes of Danny Issel, one of the alltime UK greats. I never had a chance to watch him play but hear he was an unbelievable 6'9 player. Euton can nail the 3 ball which will make him that much more effective in college. Congrats on the offer and I hope he has 3 excellent years of basketball at Rose Hill.

For the record, I didn't come up with the Issel comparison, Hoop Scoop editor Clark Francis is being quoted in the Courier-Journal and Herald-Leader as describing Euton's game "offensively like Dan Issel" after watching him play a game last December.

 

I'm not saying that Euton will be UK's new all-time leading scorer, just that I don't think the comparison is out of the question. :thumb:
