If UofL moved the basketball game and made it public that main reason for moving the game was to give UofL a more competitive chance against the Cats, you all would be all over it, just like we are. If the game was going to lose national exposure and get a UK basketball game off Live TV, you all would be all over it...You all obviously aren't that worried about it because its FOOTBALL....That is why many UK fans don't care about football...

I'm not worried about it, because there is NOTHING I can do about it. I do care about UK football as do many other UK fans. If they don't I'm really confused why thousands attend their home games and why thousands traveled to Nashville to watch the Music City Bowl.

I'd say a large chunk of Duke Basketball fans are not Duke football fans. I don't recall RP starting a post after each of their games as he usually does with Basketball.

 

Also I would bet that a large number of Notre Dame and USC football fans are not particulary fervent about those schools basketball programs. I would be in that group.

 

Being a fan of a particular school in a particluar sport doesn't mean that you have to be a fan of theirs in all sports. Maybe you like basketball but can't stand football. It all seems pretty irrelevant to me.

 

I would echo the thoughts of other UK fans that I could really care less if UL fans are upset with UK. UK is not in the business of pleasing UL. I will watch the UK / UL game whether or not it is broadcast on ESPN or on UKTV tape delay at 2:00 A.M. Of course I would prefer a live HD broadcast, but I believe Coach Brooks has things going in the right direction, and if he feels it is better to have a few games under his belt before taking on one of the better opponets they will face this season, so be it. Notre Dame doesn't play Michigan or USC week one either. No big deal.

Must be pretty slow in the college sports world when the most active threads in the college forum are about a football and a basketball game being moved back a couple weeks. Then both threads are really just two fan bases going at it back and forth. Talk about cutting teeth.

I'm happy with the direction both UK basketball and UK football are headed. Both are on the rise IMO. Why should any UK fan care what UL fans think about the UK program?

For not caring you certainly have spent a whole lot of time and posts defending a boneheaded move by by your "enlightened" AD.

Now you're being particular...You know exactly what Im talking about, however it is said. I've heard many, MANY UK fans say they aren't even UK football fans...Heck, even one on this site said so tonight. The fact that most of you are ok with losing a TV slot that you could possibly knock off a Top 10 team on proves the fact that you aren't really concerned with the football program, IMHO.

It's something I can't understand. I'm not, and never have been, a Louisville BASKETBALL fan... I'm a LOUISVILLE fan.

 

I think more Louisville fans are fans of the program, rather than one particular team, whereas with Kentucky it's just basketball and if there's time they'll wish the football team well and cheer for them over UofL but it's not really that important to them. If the football team does well, they'll jump on it and cheer them on, but it's clearly not the same. It's a lot like Notre Dame for football (though with less national appeal than Domer football.)

I am a U.K. football fan as well as basketball, I am also a BIG Ohio State football fan. My feeling is that "where is it written that a person must be a fan of only one team??" I am a fan of U.K. in ALL sports. I have always liked Ohio State football and been a fan of Buckeyes football.

I think if Louisville is upset with the football game change that they should just not schedule with UK anymore drop the series. They should go ahead an play someone else in the SEC(Florida, TN, Bama, etc) that they can get a guaranteed national TV spot. My personal opinion why some UofL fans are upset is that it may just give UK a better chance to win(or make a good showing) and they don't want that to happen. For UofL to loose a game against the Cats would really be bad for their program. I guess I am just tired of all the whining of the UK haters. Just to let everyone know I am also a Louisville fan second to UK.
