There has to be more to this story, he wouldn't have been canned for not having success.......Bryan Station won 2 games the year before he arrived and was losing much of thier talent elsewhere (see Lexington Catholic State Champs in 2002).....Station was a top 10 team the past two seasons, lost at Madison Central in the 2006 Regional Tourney and got beat by a last second shot this past season in the Region Tourney, and they played in the best district in the state.........John Barnes is the athletic director and is a good guy, there has to be more to this story......

I agree. He has been successful everywhere he has been but he does have a history. Wasn't he let go by Shelby County and Male?

Champ has worked hard to rebuild BS. They have a top team coming back. He has started a nice tournament. The KABC needs to step up. Coaches in this state have no representation. Teacher unions will not do anything for coaches. They will protect terrible teachers but not good coaches. Coaches can be fired for no reason at all and there is little they can do about it.The KABC needs to take the lead and start a coaches union in this state. BTW, Louisville Valley fired longtime coach Freddy Copass last week after 37 years of service to that school. The new principal walked in said, "your services is no longer needed here." No thank you for your time or good job, nothing.

I know someone that has worked in the fayette county school system a long time and they told me a while ago that Ligon and the principal didn't get a long at all and that there was someone already lined up for the job. I don't mean to be starting anything but i am just trying to maybe give a reason for why he was fired.

I just do not see any reason in the world for them to fire Ligon as far as his coaching goes. I dont know what the situation is, but it appears it could be some kindof political move to give someone else the position.

I reported earlier that if they let Coach Ligon go after April 30, that the school district would have to pay his salary. It is actually May 15th, the deadline for firing coaches. Very likely that if the reasoning is just to "rid" him, then they will end up paying his coaching stipend or salary no matter what.

It was just on Ch 27 that the players were getting a petition up to keep Coach Ligon. Ch 27 tried to talk to Bryan Stations principal, but she would not return the phone calls.

I really hope there is more to the story than this. If not I have less respect for Bryan Station High School than ever. If they got rid of Champ to hire Nimbo or Michael Allen - Scott Co. and Henry Clay should be smiling right now. If there isn't a scandal involving Champ - I hope he sues the principal for 1 - waiting so long; and 2 - reverse discrimination.

Props to the players for standing up for the guy who brought them state-wide recognition. it won't do any good, but it's a nice gesture.

Keep your head up Champ - you did a good thing at Station no matter how they slap you in the face. I have to go puke now.

Even if there is a scandal involved with Champ's firing this alone was not done in a professional manner, why should a school as successful as Station have to advertise their coaching position on the coaches listserv? This entire situation will not have a positive result for Station, I simply feel bad for the kids...looks like they have some more rebuilding ahead of them...ho2 in the world are back to back 25 win seasons are not "the right direction"? Champ good luck in where ever you go, hopefully it will not be in the 11th Region....that is unless you want to come to Scott County to fill some open assistants spots!

I am hearing that Allen will probably be the new coach at Bryan Station. It is a political move, not one based on common sense. I was just listening to the Joe B and Denny show and Coach Ligon was on. Coach Hall was very upset about the situation. If he leaves the city of Lexington has lost a great coach.

the AD told me during football season that there is no discipline there. I bet there is more there then there ever was with Bobby Washington!!!!!!!!!!! An african american coach will be hired right it down.
