Things you love about summer

Featured Replies

What do you love about summer?

I love:

HEAT! I'm not cold anymore!

Food! I LOVE going to the farmer's market and getting all kinds of fresh veggies to eat all week.

Walking my dog in the park! No short walks to the tiny park. LONG walks, taking trails in the park instead of the walking paths.

Sitting on the front porch with a glass of fresh-squeezed lemonade, reading a great summer book.

Actually my favorite part of summer is the end of it, I love the fall season, it's my favorite time of year! But if I had to pick it would be the long hours of daylight, it gives me more time to get what I need done outside around the house and not take up all my weekends and leaves more time for fishing.

I enjoy a nice thunderstorm.

The end of it...

Summer = Overrated

Everything mentioned is great if the weather is 85 degrees and below (with no humidity). Summer means about 3 months of weather in the 90s that people believe they love until they go outside and cannot think, have to squint because the sun piercing in on their eyes, the sports selections are terrible, and you get sweaty walking to and from your car.

I love working in my garden, watching all the veggies grow, and working in my flowers and yard. I have over 50 rose bushes. I too love the extended daylight, sitting on the patio, listening to the birds and watching the squirrels try and eat my garden.. I enjoy going and watching my men play golf and walking the course. Going fishing at my parents farm and having a weiner roast. Really being retired and not subbing at school. ( But I know I will be ready to start again in the fall.) Yes I do love summer.:ylsuper:

I love hanging out with friends.

I love playin ball outside on the ball courts.

I love cooking out and playing cornhole.

Going to the ballpark and eating a big Ballpark Frank!

Not all is bad in my book... I do like early morning jogs, late night grill outs, and going to weddings.

BTW, only 18 more days until mine :sssh:

I'll take hot and humid over cold any day. It really doesn't bother me. I may get tired when I'm on a walk, for instance. But, I can find a nice shady, cool place to rest a minute, or when I get home, plop my lazy butt out on the porch with that lemonade and a book and be golden for the rest of the day!

I like the cold better, you can always put on cloths, when it's hot naked is as far down as you can go and it's still hot!

You're talking to the wrong person! I've yet to turn on any air conditioning!

Once it gets to about Mid-November, I'm chilled to the bone, and I mean literally. I can't seem to get warm no matter what, no matter how many clothes I put on. And anyone who knows me knows I have WAY more than my fair share of huge, bulky wool sweaters.

Good thread. Here is my list:

Fresh watermelon.

Girls in sun dresses.

Fireflies over a field at dusk.

Baseball on the radio.

Church homecomings, and all the fried chicken and crank-churn ice cream you can eat.

Vacation Bible School, moon pies, and Nehi grape soda

Community swimming pools

Where do you live -- Mayberry?
Where do you live -- Mayberry?

It would be nice to go back to those days as a kid when you are laying in bed smelling the freshly cut grass, cool breeze in the window. Playing in the pool.

You get older and you are sure you are smelling a different kind of grass coming from the neighbors house and the pool water you are CONVINCED has some kind of bacteria in it.

The beauty of becoming old and paranoid.
