May 17, 200719 yr They would compete the last few but would have been at or near the bottom prior to their recent success. Had they been in the league last year it would have been interesting to see how they would have done, as someone mentioned, having a stretch or even a couple stretches where you have to bring your best shot in back to back and maybe even back weeks is murderous year after year that is the SEC. I dont think over the long haul UL would be a top team and would likely not be even a middle of the road team. UL is in the midist of a great run but Louisville is in a difficult place to get top rate recruits year after year and only by establishing the program as a traditional power will that change and that takes years of success before that happens. The program is not to that level as of now as is evident from coaches using UL for a stepping stone to those traditional powers. One wrong coaching hire by UL could set the program back years. :thumb:
May 17, 200719 yr They would be in the upper half at this point. As westsider mentioned, the 8 week grind would be something different for them, that they have not faced. Road games would be much more treacherous outside of a few venues.

Imo they would have beaten UGA "last" season but not many others, imo would lose to Tenn.,Fla., LSU, Auburn and Bama (if not last or this season certainly in most). That is 6 programs that I feel definately better would be better and with Spurrier at USC he could not be counted out on beating them on occaision. I am in no way looking for it or predicting it but U.K. just might "Shock" the Cards this season. Also, Louisville has not faced a week in week out conference schedule/ wars as tough as the SEC. JMO

May 18, 200719 yr There isn't a team in the SEC that wouldn't highlight the Louisville game as a top contest. Louisville can matchup with every team in the SEC, but I highly doubt they could go undefeated with an SEC schedule. I think winning on the road in the SEC is one of the most difficult things to do in the college football. It wouldn't at all suprise me to see UofL beat Florida and LSU at home and then lose to South Carolina on the road.

Louisville would probably play in the Eastern Div. of the SEC, so how would they fare year in and out with Fla, TN, GA, and USC??? I can't see them going undefeated. Louisville has definitely stepped it up a notch or 3, but they are not yet where Florida, Tennessee or Auburn are in the food chain. Time will tell, but right now they are on a good surge and would compete in the SEC.

In fact TN has been a serious disappointment for a couple seasons. I think Brian is pretty happy with his choice of the Cards ver the Vols.

Time will tell, but right now they are on a good surge and would compete in the SEC. If UL was in the SEC East, they would finish somewhere in the 3rd-4th range in the division most seasons. The overall team speed advantage that they enjoy over most of their opponents would disappear in the SEC, which would leave them in the South Carolina/Arkansas category once Brohm graduates.
May 18, 200719 yr I think this thread has been full of positive realistic comments on UL football. If it were a thread where UK was making a change you would see people get on here and put down UK's chances in that league.
