Louisville would do pretty good. Last year, if they had played UK's schedule, I think they would have been 10-2 with losses to LSU and Florida.

 

If they had Bush the whole year, they would have beat LSU, and possibly beat Florida.

The have been consistently better than TN the last 3 seasons. In fact TN has been a serious disappointment for a couple seasons. I think Brian is pretty happy with his choice of the Cards ver the Vols.

 

You have to consider who they are playing as well.... Its nice to only have to have to really worry about and play your best ball for 2 or 3 games a year.

While the overall level of competition is tougher for the Vols I still think they have been lack luster the last couple of seasons.

 

This past season UL would have destroyed them.

Middle of the pack with Arkansas, Tenn, Georgia and Alabama. Competitive but not top tier.

You have to consider who they are playing as well.... Its nice to only have to have to really worry about and play your best ball for 2 or 3 games a year.

I think this thread has been full of positive realistic comments on UL football. If it were a thread where UK was making a change you would see people get on here and put down UK's chances in that league.

Well I think Kentucky would be a MUCH MUCH better fit in the Big East than they are in the SEC. UK would be in the middle of the pack around Pitt, USF, and Cincy but in Basketball they would be in the top level of a great basketball conference. They would have rivals like Cincy, Louisville, West Virgina, UConn, Notre Dame and Pitt in Basketball, and could actually build up football to a competitive level.

I am really tired of this whining about how poor UK is always being put down. Both sides rip on the other. I was one of like two or three U of L fans that was on here back in 2001 till about four years ago when alot more started posting, and I took enough heat from UK fans telling Louisville fans that we could never compete in a BCS conference and how we had no idea about how tough a BCS league is and other nonsense to start an iron forge. Don't take this stuff personal, just put what you think and your crediblity and sports knowledge will be based on it. And sometimes a joke is just a joke.

Kansas State sure put a scare in Texas (won.)

 

Cincy sure put a scare in Ohio State (leading after 1 and trailing by 6 at halftime) and Rutgers (won.)

 

South Florida sure put a scare in West Virginia (won.)

You have got to be kidding. K state beat Texas, for starters Middle Tenn went to a bowl, Cincy and South Florida WON bowl games. :lol:

 

But to your point every BCS school plays some patsies, like Texas State, Louisiana Monroe, Ole Miss, Vandy, Miss St, for instance. Florida played Western Carolina, Southern Miss and Central Florida the list goes on.

 

As far as only 2-3 games Louisville had to bring their A game. Rutgers, West Virginia, and Miami were all ranked when Louisville played them all went on to win bowls. Plus South Florida was a bowl winner that had beat Louisville the year before. Kansas State at K State (a bowl winning team that beat the defending national champion Texas Longhorns), and the Cards were without the starting QB. And you could ever mention a game against a bowl winning instate Rival from the SEC in UK. There were at least five or six teams last year that Louisville had to be pumped up and ready to play their best ball plus the Orange bowl against the ACC champions. Louisville plays a better schedule than some want to admit.

I'd say UL would be in the same boat they are in now, competing for a BCS bowl each year. Along with some talk of National Title hopes. I'm not saying they would get to the BCS each year, but they would compete for it.

No one knows what the future holds but I believe that this year and the last few years Louisville would be very competitive in the SEC.

UL in the SEC, I would love to see "little brother" play against big brothers buddies. Basketball or Football would be a good ruler for all the UK haters who wear a red chicken on their head or sometimes a big "L", those in sports know what W's and L's stand for...right?

I watch UK and UL, but I am not a big fan of either, just like to watch them both because they are both close. I have more respect for UL just because the school seems to be behind the football program more then UK.

 

With that being said, I have to say that the SEC is the most competitive conference for football and basketball. I don't remember many teams going undefeated in the SEC in football. When a team in another conference goes undefeated I am not that surprised, but if a team in the SEC goes undefeated they get my vote for the national championship. With so many quality programs in one conference such as Tennessee, Florida, LSU, Auburn, Arkansas, and Georgia, if you can win this conference then you are surely a top five team.

 

Now for what kind of team would UL be in the SEC. I think they would be competitive, they would not be dominate, they would not be Vanderbilt, but they would have some good seasons with some average seasons. At this time in UL history I do not see them beating Tennessee, Arkansas, Georgia, Auburn, LSU, and Florida all in the same season, if they beat two of them in one season that would be very good.

 

Now with that being said, I think playing in the SEC would be another boost to UL. Playing week in and week out against teams of the caliber of the SEC teams would make UL improve over time. You will play to the level of your opponents.
