My grandfather was a bus driver and there was a flat space to the left of the driver's seat. I would sit there and look at the window as he ran his route. Ride the bus with him in the morning and afternoon sitting right beside him on the bus on the lid of the little storage opening.

 

 

My mom was a bus driver for a couple of years and I would set beside her and boss kids around. :lol: No one ever listened to me...

My bus driver as a kid let me do that (he was a close friend of my dad). Probably not the best idea.

Not really, fine young ladies. We were actually kinda of lucky they would put up with us. I also remember going to two a days during August football, and then swimming in the river to cool off, and then playing basketball in the street until my grandmother would run us off.

Definitely! And I remember rabbit ears, and antennae on roofs, and UHF knobs. I remember ""Sorry, we're experiencing technical difficulties" being on the screen several times a day. I remember when a portable TV was b/w, had only VHF channels, and plugged into the wall. Portable?

 

I remember dial telephones. If you want to have real fun, ask your kids what a "dial" is. Name one thing -- other than the washing machine -- that has a dial today. Oh, and our phone had a cord that got all tangled up and shorted out now and then. And if you tried to take a call in the other room...the phone pulled off the table, and landed upside-down, hanging up the call.

 

I remember when the closest thing to BGP was your late-night buddies on the CB. Everyone had a handle, and nobody had a truck. I remember when computers didn't exist. I still have a pocket LED calculator that does nothing but add, subtract, multiply, and divide. I remember when PONG came out. I was in the 5th grade, and I remember playing it at recess on one of those TVs on a six foot tall cart. If one of those carts had ever tipped over, we'd have lost a 5th grader or two.

 

I remember when you used to have to cook your food. It took no less than 20 minutes or so, and involved fire -- or if you were really lucky -- electricity. Then they invented something called a "radar range." Wonder whatever became of those.....

My grandma did. I think she used it into the early 1980's when she passed on.

YOU NEED to point out that they lived in the SAME COUNTY AS YOU. I remember doing that too.

 

I was the riding lawnmover behind a push mower until I went to college. Mom did it the first time after I was in college and in 3 days they had purchased a riding mower.

Yes, LBBC. I did that many times!

 

Someone reminded me about turning the antenna. We used to do that to, to try to get a 2nd TV channel. This would only work for us on rare occassions.
