O how it used to be..........

My grandfather was a bus driver and there was a flat space to the left of the driver's seat. I would sit there and look at the window as he ran his route. Ride the bus with him in the morning and afternoon sitting right beside him on the bus on the lid of the little storage opening.

I am just 16 and I can remember doing that with my grandmother. I would sit right next to her and push the button to make the stop sign pop out.

Something that, of course, is probably highly illegal today ...

Anyone remember Romper Room.

All those years watching and she never once saw me through the mirror. I think I need counseling as her rejection of saying my name probably led to my fear of rejection by females.:D

Here is one I don't see much of today.

I got in trouble in school, meaning paddled, I got double the swats when I got home.

Not only would they paddle but they advertised by hanging the paddle on the wall.

I once set a record for most swats received during a semester. Heck, I even got swats one year after school had already let out for the summer!

My record may still stand, considering the anti-corporal punishment movement started soon after I got out of high school.

I got one swat for throwing one paperwad. Lady was about 64 when she spanked me, so it didn't hurt.

You know the other thing about the spanking is that they did it right in front of the class.

They didn't worry about my self esteem and pull me quietly into the hallway. Nope she said LBBC up here to my desk and grab the edge of it. Snatched the paddle off the hook on the wall and hit me with it right there in front of 30 pair of 7th grader eyes.

You talk about learning to have a pain tolerance, no way you were going to let her get the knowledge that it might have hurt and cry as you walked back to the desk. Eat the pain, Eat the pain

In junior high, the whole class got in trouble and had to write "lines". I and several others refused, the lines were doubled and we got a swat. Each day of the refusal, the number of lines and swats increased. I and a buddy outlasted everyone else, but needless to say, the teacher outlasted us all.

They wouldn't do us up in front of the class, instead retreating to the hallway. But everybody knew what was going on, and you still had to keep the stiff upper lip when returning to class, even if the deliverer was one of those sadistic-type teachers who got off on lighting you up.

Funniest swat story: In either 7th or 8th grade, at the height of the break-dancing fad, me and another guy got busted for God knows what. The teacher asked who wanted to go first, and I deferred to my buddy, who had on parachute pants. After watching him cringe in pain and nearly tear up as he essentially got swatted on his bare butt, I was laughing so hard by the time it was my turn I couldn't even feel my punishment, and the teacher was well-known for administering some of the hardest swats in the school.

Each day of the refusal, the number of lines and swats increased. I and a buddy outlasted everyone else, but needless to say, the teacher outlasted us all.
How many lines did you end up writing?

Nice, BF. :ylsuper:
