Bobby Perry is the kind of guy who should have been here, and is guy that UK usually always has had on their teams through the years. Now should he really have ever been a starter 2 whole years, definitely not! There should have been a top PF in front of him, and he should have just been a 10 to 15 minute role player at the most. However Bobby Perry is someone who should have been here and deserved to be here, he just got surronded by some bad guys in his class...

That was my point. I think people got upset Tubby was brining in role player talent from out of state when you could've probably found the same cailber kids in state.

 

BTW, I could care less where the guys come from so long as they want to play here. Now if you've got two guys that are equal, and one is from KY, go for the hometown kid, but other than that, just get the best kids you can.

Well first of all that class is know as the class of 04! Secondly for the rest of the post, you are pretty much right on...

I'm assuming you mean '08 as in their graduating year, but recruiting classes are labeled by their signing year. So we're talking about the '04 class.

 

So if thats the class that brought UK "to its knees" where do you think they'd have been last year without Morris?

 

Bradley, Crawford, and Morris accounted for nearly 60% of the teams offense.

 

Perry, Thomas, and Woo accounted for just under 13%

 

Bradley and Crawford were 1st and 3rd in assists on the team.

 

Morris, Crawford, and Bradley EACH averaged more rebounds than Perry or Thomas (thats 2 guards out rebounding 2 forwards).

It's obvious the senior and sophmore classes were the problem. The 04 class with a good team leader were one shot away from the final four.

So you say the last 4 years huh? And you say we went from elite to unranked? Well 4 years ago Tubby Smith was the one who coached us back to the elite again and was one of the top 3 teams in the country! Then he had two bad years after that! Alot of you all for whatever reason like to seem to act like we have been having seasons like the last 2 for awhile now, and that is not true. Yeah after 99 we went downhill a little bit, but then Tubby took us back to the elite, and just unfortunately we didn't captitalize on it and that happens to good teams sometimes. So your last 4 years thing is just wrong, and should be only 2 years...

 

The last two years looked to indicate a continued downward trend, the players had tuned Tubby out and his assistants weren't doing the job of developing the talent the Cats did have. Can you say that the players were improving during their time at UK?? That comes more from indiviual workouts (which are generally handled by the assistant coaches) than from full team practice.

 

And I will stand by my last four years statement because four years ago was the last high point and it's been downhill since then. By the way, you never did answer my question about how that #1 team in the country fared in the NCAA tourney???

HAHA like Mike Williams, Brandon Stockton, Josh Carrier, etc...That is what he considers very talented...

 

These players are Minnesota caliber players, they just can't add up to UK's caliber though. Different place, different product to sell and no doubt isnt as good/easy as product to sell to new recruits.

I just don't think OTS wants to put up with the High caliber players it takes to win at UK. Him not recruiting any more players for this year for the Golden Gophers doesn't surprise me.

All I can say for Billy G is that he WON'T FIND an Iowa State, or a Baylor, or a Nebraska, or a Colorado, or a Missouri in the SEC. Those schools made up almost 1/2 of the Big 12. And besides, having Kentucky on your jersey is a little different than A & M.

Because if you look back to see who you asked that question to about the #1 team in the country you will see that you was not asking me that question. Secondly take anothe look at my post, and you will see that even though you didn't ask me that question I still pretty much ended up answering you question in that post, because I even say that we just didn't captitalize on that opporunity, and that happens sometimes, just ask Duke about their #1 seeds they had when Reddick was here, they usually didn't captalize on that either even though they had one of the best teams in the country...

Comes back for 2 more years and now he is making millions of dollars. Bradley has been a player that has gotten alot better. Crawford had his best year out of his 3 years here so far. Bobby Perry did nothing his first two years, and but was able to really step it up when we needed him to the last two years at the end of the season. Woo his senior season was ten times better than he was when he first got here. I know Ravi Moss wasn't on this years team, but he got better every year he was here, and I can go on. There are alot more players that have got better under Tubby than have not got better. Mostly every player did get better here, it was just a matter that those players were so bad though when they got here, that even when they got better it really didn't help to much.
