Wow man you really need to take a look at stuff before you post or call anyone out! Because if you look back to see who you asked that question to about the #1 team in the country you will see that you was not asking me that question. Secondly take anothe look at my post, and you will see that even though you didn't ask me that question I still pretty much ended up answering you question in that post, because I even say that we just didn't captitalize on that opporunity, and that happens sometimes, just ask Duke about their #1 seeds they had when Reddick was here, they usually didn't captalize on that either even though they had one of the best teams in the country...

 

And now for you saying the players didn't improve that is just false as well. I mean lets see here Morris tries to go pro after freshman year doesn't make it. Comes back for 2 more years and now he is making millions of dollars. Bradley has been a player that has gotten alot better. Crawford had his best year out of his 3 years here so far. Bobby Perry did nothing his first two years, and but was able to really step it up when we needed him to the last two years at the end of the season. Woo his senior season was ten times better than he was when he first got here. I know Ravi Moss wasn't on this years team, but he got better every year he was here, and I can go on. There are alot more players that have got better under Tubby than have not got better. Mostly every player did get better here, it was just a matter that those players were so bad though when they got here, that even when they got better it really didn't help to much. So it was just a matter of them probably shouldn't have been here in the first place in people like Thomas, Woo, and Shag....

 

And once again your last 4 years statement is just false! Because as I already said before Tubby is the one who got them back to the elite after going down some after his National Championship. He took them back up to that elite, and one of the top 3 teams in the nation for 3 straight years. So we did not start a downfall from 4 years ago, we started a downfall 2 years ago. So once again maybe you want to get some stuff right next time before you post, or call someone out like you did me by saying I still haven't even answered your question becuase well you were wrong on the question part to because it wasn't directed towards me...

As for player development, when players have opportunities in games (especially when they are the "best" on the team at their position meaning more minutes), they will show some improvement. However, in my opinion which is shared by many others, Tubby's players did not improve at the rate one would expect from top tier talent. And there in lies the problem. As you said, many of Tubby's players did not belong at UK.

 

As for the bolded statement, Tubby was the one responsible for that drop off after 98 so he merely corrected something he screwed up in the first place. I hold my opinion that the program began a downward trend in 04 with regards to talent identification and knowing who would fit in to his program.

As for improving players that was the one thing Tubby actually was known best for doing. I mean Morris who was a top player definitely improved each and every year he has been here. Rondo well we really cant tell much on him because he left early, and the chemistry problem with teammates was such a big deal with him it really made it hard to see if he improved much from freshman to sophomre year. Now for Crawford you do have a little argument for because he was a top player and really hasn't really improved to much. However maybe it was because of coaching, or maybe it was just someone who was rated too high in high school, and was not as good as people thought because that also does happen sometimes.

 

Now for the drop off after 98, you couldn't expect ANY NEW COACH to come in and keep us at that level Pitino had us when he left. We were on the peak of the mountain and there was only one way to go and that was down. Its actually just a plus that Tubby was able to get us another national championship before the slide down the mountain started to happen. There was no way we would have stayed at that level, but after we started to go down Tubby was able to get us back to pretty much the top of the mountain because we were one of the top 3 teams in the country 3 years in a row. Yeah one of those rounds we did end up going out in the 2nd round, but usually you do see see a 1 seed not make it past the 2nd round, and it just happend to be us that year, it happens and was just very unfortunate. And one final thing for the 4 years and you saying talent identification. Two of the 4 years we have brought in good classes. We had the top class in 03 and this class that we brought in With Meeks, Jasper, etc was also a very good class even if the ranking of the class doesn't show it. So it really like I have been saying only a 2 year thing...

:thumb: :thumb: Again, another very good post with some very good info. I also might add that Tubby had more class in his little finger than most all coaches in the country have combined . Billy Clyde is our coach now and I will support him bc I am a U.K. fan. I was and still am a supporter of OTS and always will be. :thumb:

Um no why dont you go back and actually look again, because I definitely did. You just make yourself look really foolish when you say stuff that you dont know what your talking about and are not true, and that is why I dont take your post that serious ever because they are usually wrong...

You said in your last post while commenting on mine that I left out that Tubby didn't make the final four with any of those elite teams that I had said he he had. Yet I very clearly did say that in the post you commented on, and that is what made you look foolish, and well once again you make yourself look foolish because you are wrong yet again because I never said that and my post never even came close to saying that. So seriously my man I would stop now, because your just really not helping yourself out at all on this, and probably would be best if you stopped, because you have nothing on this subject and you just look more foolish when you keep trying to find something that is not there...

Wow, I'm actually starting to feel foolish now too....

I wish Tubby well. But, I've never been a Gopher fan and never will be. Don't really care too much what he does up there, unless he adds the Cats to his schedule.
