Back to Hssb's point on the # of runs that Dunn produces. He is the best on the Reds and one of the best in the NL. Might not like how he does it but he produces runs.

He's not a capable 1B and they have much better options at the position. He has improved in LF so far and he has to play over Freel. You leave Dunn where he is at and let him do his thing or you trade him.

Someone that is recruited at QB for Texas surely should be athletic enough to become a capable 1B.

 

They are simply playing to the back of their baseball cards.

I would think he could end up at least average. He was recruited by Texas to be a QB, has to be athletic. Now I know his work ethic doesn't seem to be the best, but that is where he gets called out on it to be the best team out there the Reds could put our there.

 

While I understand that 1B has it own particular concerns defensively, he is not being asked to be a gold glove over there. Couldn't be much worse than a Ryan Howard.

 

Does he look athletic to you? Will moving him to 1B release his athleticism for all to witness? I think if he could be a good 1B he would already be there, if he had a poor attitude about it why bother, that surely won't make the Reds a better team.

Jr definitely get such nice treatment. He was ripped on here about the move to RF and it was continually posted that he should be told this is the way it is and you can learn to live with it.

Griffey is more than capable of moving to RF, Dunn on the other hand would be moving to a totally different position. Griffey's defensive ability has never been questioned, his health and age were the deciding factors in the move to RF. I just think if Dunn could play 1B better than LF he would be there by now. This isn't MLB "The Show", not all players can adjust to different positions.

I'm not sure how many times we have to see this -- he won't stay healthy and / or his production drops dramatically. So then, when Freel is hurt (or Griffey again...ahh, soreness in chest ), do you move Dunn back? That is what I think is asking a bit much. Put him somewhere and leave him there.

The "I know" was meant to be less of "I knew" based on being there and more of a "I know\ I know" the argument that he doesn't work hard or hustle.

 

Based upon comments that was made it didn't seem like he worked at it as honestly as he could have since he didn't want to make the move, I would assume that he could do better than he did.

Freel sits, if you can ride Gonxalez while he's hot at lead off, do it, when he can't I really like Hamilton there. (for now)

 

Freel gives TREMENDOUS energy bot on offense getting bunt hits, stealing bases and so on, and on defense where it was almost a guarentee that he would make at least 1 diving catch a game last year.
