They had some good teams before Coach Ormes but the consistency of the program as it was with Coach Ormes was missing.

 

I am very familiar with the team that defeated them in the regional tournament in 1994-95 and they were a nice team. But the consistency of being a competitive team year in and year out was missing.

Yes sir. Could it be spiked with a little wine or bourbon? Coach Orme shouldn't have no problem finding another coaching postion, if he wanted to go elsewhere.

I have no opinion concerning the coaching change. However, I hope that St. Pat makes a strong effort to enroll students from surrounding counties and from southern Ohio. The opportunity to obtain a fine Catholic education can be a great attraction for students and their parents. Running a bus to each of the applicable areas is perfectly within the "rules" so long as the service is offered to all applicable students. If some are athletes, so be it.

The St. Patrick girls could and SHOULD be a powerhouse if things line up right. Tubby Smith was a good guy and coach to,but just not right for UK,ala Ormes. Changes could be a coming(not right away) for Augusta and Deming(depending what jobs open up in those respective school systems;) ).

Exactly, and trust me, some are major athletes. St. Patrick has dragged their feet on athletics for years, no reason why they can't be a Brossart,a CovCath,a Notre Dame. Everyone has just basked in Mason's sun without trying to really get the most and best out of StP. If things are done like ScooterBob says above,plus the other intangibles,the Saints could be a major player in at the very least girls sports in 3-5 years.

ahhh, I get it now, things are looking pretty clear. You would be a very good canidate to sit in the AD's office. You seem to be in the know more than the current one was about this coaching situation. Very, very interesting.

I do not know why Mr Orme was let go in the manner that he was, but I for one do not feel like we know all of the story. I find it hard to believe that the AD did not know what was going on, and I wonder if he was mis-quoted in the LI story. He may not have known that Orme was being informed of the decision, but surely he knew what was going on.

 

In the defense of Mrs. Douglas...I happen to know that she is a wonderful coach, and I know this because I have followed her teams for several years.

She expects the best from her players and she gets it because her players respect her. I for one think she would be a wonderful replacement.

 

 

Saint patrick does not care about winning titles....I'm sure this had nothing to do with that. It had nothing to do with Mr. Ormes record as a coach. It is my understanding that many parents had some issues and complained. Mr. Ormes was not let-go because they complained, but it was probably those complaints that gave the administration a reason to take a closer look at the girls program. I feel sure a decision was made based on what was observed.

 

As far as parents threatening to pull their kids out of St. Patrick if Ormes stayed, I heard it differently. I heard that the girls were threatening to not play if he stayed. That is just what I have heard and I don't know if either is true.

 

As far as Mr Kirry, the principal...it is my understanding that he has coached basketball and and he does have knowledge of the game.

 

I personally have dealt with St. Patrick school and I know from experience that the administration is not going to dismiss someone just because some parents complain. Anyway, parents pay for everyting their kids do so they should have some say....parents pay tuition and have to help earn the money that pays for all sports, they should be able to express their opinion if they have an issue.

 

If you do not know the full story, you shouldn't be posting an opinion. I for one think Mr. Orme should be complimented for the job he has done at Saint Patrick, and it should be left at that. Move on.

 

Yes, I agree that it was not handled they way it should have been (if the LI story is accurate) but that should be the only controversy here.

Welcome to the site imo, any administration that backs their own should listen to the opinions of the parents if they want, but never let it dictate an outcome without talking things over with the head guy in charge of a program, i.e. in this case the girls basketball program. Secondly, it has been said a questionaire was sent to the boys and girls program for the players to answer, would this dictate an outcome? Just asking questions.
