June 25, 200719 yr Author I still can't get over this Rotnei Clarke thing. When I watch a video of him, he looks like dozens of other kids a played against in high school. No different than say Steven Kidd from Elliot Co (aside from Clarke from being a slight bit chunkier). This is one guy I would really like to see in person. I'm not sold on him at all. But if he brings WW with him I guess it's not that bad...
June 25, 200719 yr Willie Warren told Rivals today that he has made a decision that he is going to go where Rotnei Clarke goes. Clarke is slated to visit UK this weekend, and Warren may be coming with him. From what I've read from Maggard it seems like Clarke is a UK lean....
June 25, 200719 yr He scores a lot, but I think Clarkes average may have something to do with high school competition and the level of it in OK. Azubuike came out of OK with a high 30's average. He didnt have the best of camps at the NBA Camp. He's a shooter though.
June 25, 200719 yr Author Where would Clarke fit in the guard rotations over the next few years if he and WW are both added? It's crowded in the back court already...

June 25, 200719 yr Willie Warren told Rivals today that he has made a decision that he is going to go where Rotnei Clarke goes. Clarke is slated to visit UK this weekend, and Warren may be coming with him. Why in the world would you let another kid make your college choice for you?
June 25, 200719 yr Author Looks about right. With that group Clarke would have to be a PG to see the floor, and it's likely you see Warren in that spot. Clarke has been the benefactor of having Willie on his AAU teams, and I'm not sure I see that as the case at the next level...
June 25, 200719 yr I think Warren is more of a 2G at this stage and will be recruited as much. However, his best bet for the next level may be at the PG position. He has been playing a little of both during the AAU scene. Regarding Clarke, it seems that he is not going to be a stand alone stud, but if placed in the right situation and surrounded by other good players he can flourish. That is what BCG plans to do, plus the kid is considered one of the best shooters in the class of 08. How many times in the past have we lamented the fact of past UK teams not having bonafide shooters? Not comparing him to Lofton, but the knock on Lofton out of high school, was lateral quickness, handling the ball, and creating his own shot. He bombed at the summer camps when placed at the PG position and many big suitors backed away. He can shoot...and plays in a great system where he gets good looks and has worked very hard to develop his game. I'd take my chances on a kid like Clarke after seeing what passing on a great shooter with questions, can do to you.

June 25, 200719 yr Good call. Have a PG and and an offense that can set the kid up and let him pop. Worked for Damon Bailey.
June 26, 200719 yr Maggard says that Clarke can dunk and he has seen him do it easily many times. From the video that I think most of us have saw of him that really blows my mind. Id never imagine him being able to dunk.

June 30, 200719 yr Apparrantly his visit at UK went extremely well. http://www.kentuckyink.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=132&Itemid=146 Conley Clarke expected his son Rotnei to really enjoy his visit to the University of Kentucky, but what he's hearing now has even him impressed. "Rotnei called me and said, dad, this is unbelievable. You are not going to believe this!" Clarke's visit is going so well that he is extending his stay. "There was a flight today that we were trying to get him on. Rotnei has not been home much at all in the past few weeks and we have some things we need to take care of. Rotnei was home twenty hours between NBA Players camp and only ten hours prior to leaving for his Kentucky visit. I talked to him and he said 'I'm staying'. He didn't want to come home. Sounds like he may be close to commiting, unless this is just the normal hyperbole that we hear from most recruits after a campus visit.
June 30, 200719 yr From what I am hearing is that Clarke is or really close to giving a verbal to UK. Wonder what this says about Warren?
