Didn't Turpin beat Edgewood the next week in the playoffs. From what I am seeing here with their schedule. I think the Birds should really have a good shot at the Rams.....GO BIRDS!!!!!!!!!

This is going to be a great game. The question wil be how Highlands handles the speed and size of TM.

How has Highlands fared vs a Big and Fast team in the past?

Highlands seems like a smaller and typical Northmont team, who runs the ball more. So TM has had gone against teams like Highlands before. So the biggest adjustment will be Highlands vs the size and speed. Especially at WR, where TM goes 6'6" 243, 6'2 185, 6'5" 220, 6'3" 210, 5'10" 182 (4.48), 6'4" 210.

Fast usually doesn't bother the Birds (unless it is Colerain type fast). Big (if there is some fast mixed in) has traditionally presented problems though.

The 2nd Edgewood game was a misnomer. TM has several injuries and some follies type things happen on special teams (knee down on 1yr line on opening kickoff, 2 punts under 20 yards, punt blocked, etc)

And they only took the Ohio State champs to Overtime at Piqua. And took the #4 ranked team from Region 4 to the last play of the game. to lose by 6. The only other loss was by 2, with several special teams errors that night.

I ant claim to know anything other than what I've read and the stats but it does appear that disapline has been a thorn in the TM attack. Ram Attack himself has pointed this out with the special teams and other follies. I think the Birds will have a tough time of it but we all have to remeber that this is Highlands that we are talking about. The winningest team all time in KY and one of the winningest in the nation. A challenge like this is nothing new to the Birds and historically they have done very well. Know reason to think this game will be any different

I'm pretty sure Male is the winningest team in KY history.

2nd in wins I meant

They may win here but what is the record against Ohio schools???

Not very well, I would imagine.

You are correct, Special teams, punting in particular was their achillies heel last year. their punter was injured in 2-a-days pretty bad (collar bone) and was out for the season. So it was a make shift punters.

Discipline has not been an issue, just horrid luck on special teams last yr. Return men, and punters.

Well Ram, last year was last year and this year is a new start and I am sure the coaches are working on last years deficiencies if they are issues that would carry over. So not sure us talking about last year will have much bearing on this year.

I have no idea but Highlands is one of the special teams in the sport of football and they might not have but usually when they have played out of state it has been against giants as may be the case in this game. Highlands should prove to be formidable, espically when one realizes how small of a school they are.

Toothpick: You are exactly right, 2006 was 2006. On to 2007, which looks to be the year of the Ram.

I fully expect Highlands to be a formidable opponent, who will push TM, as usual when you get good teams playing each other.

Honestly I think many Highlands and NKY fans are thinking that since TM is not Elder/Colerain/X/Moeller that it somehow means Highlands will win rather easily. But I must say that TM is turning a corner much like Coletain did, under Coombs. TM has been a slepping Giant for years in Dayton.

Dayton gets over shadowed by Cincinnati when you talk Southwest Ohio Football. However when Cincy teams come to Dayton to play Dayton teams they lose. Including Elder/X/Moeller/LaSalle. All beaten by Dayton teams in Dayton. And Colerain has lost the last 2 times in Dayton they have played to Columbus teams.

If you have not noticed those schools DO NOT come to Dayton to play.

Not exactly sure what in any prior post would lead you to think that. I don't recall a single post indicating anyone believes that. On the contrary I believe some posters think TM will have an easy win. I personally think it will be a dogfight so to answer thread question yes, Highlands does have a chance to win.
