Highlands has a real chance in this one! Highlands has always played total team football. This is something that might not be the case with Trotwood.

I didn't see either team play last year, but I'll take the Birds over the Rams for discussion sake.

Xenia has NEVER been a powerhouse. TM added 2 new coordinators last year, and that has ben the bigest difference in their play. They have not had an offense that could score until last year. Those coaches have a lot to do with the revival, and the great clases coming through right now.

Come on, impose their will.......you, me and 9 other guys have a shot vs the Colts if we dont let them impose their will on us. That statement is a little dramatic don't you think.......

Xenia High School has always had good football and a lot of former players who played at the Division I level, but Centerville has been the consistant powerhouse in the Dayton area over the last 30+ years.

I know you said "might" not be the case, but you again raised the issue that others have raised about TM not playing together well as a team. Is this "conclusion" based strictly on the fact that TM didn't win it all last year with so much talent (if so, I think that's a bit presumptious on folks part) or are some folks familiar with TM?

As for me, I think TM will be a great challenge for the Birds. Of course I believe the Birds will respond to the challenge and win (then again, we could be playing the Colts and I'd feel the same way). But with the talent that TM has and it being the second year running the offensive system, TM is going to be a very, very tough opponent. And while I've not seen TM play, I'm not buying into this "they don't play well as a team" stuff.

I lived in beavercreek and they havent had a great program in sometime. Xeina always beat us worse than centerville did. The game between Xenia and centerville is always a good one. Thats why i said Xenia is a powerhouse. They have a good program and if you were looking threw my eyes you would see what i was talking about.

If anyone wants to talk about NCC or CCH playing HHS you need to start your own thread. This is a TM/HHS thread.

Well if you grew up watching Beavercreek Battlin'

Beavers then you have not watched very good football. And compared to the Creek, Xenia does looklike a powerhouse. Trust me they aren't.

If I missed the good ole tongue in cheek then I apologize.

I never questioned you about Centerville. Great program.

Xenia High School has always had good football and a lot of former players who played at the Division I level.

There have not been many. Actually the only ones I can think of is a QB at Air Force and a OL at Ohio State.

In all seriousness I think I know Dayton area better than you. Xenia sucks. they are always over rated.

You are exactly correct. People give us the same treatment they gave Colerain when they were coming up into a power. I can assure you that 99.9% of the folks on this board have no idea what TM is all about. And are going off Yappi and other sites where you hear from our rivals...(Northmont) about how terrible TM is, undisciplined, doesn't playa as a team, etc. yadda yadda yadda. Most of those people say that about schools who are majority Afrcian American.

Sorry for the Soapbox. Leatherneck, you post is 1000% correct. Thanks for posting

Ive watched good football teams. Ive watch Breathitt play my hole life. Xenia is a good program, but i admit they could be overrated. But i still think that Xenia is a good program. Nothing compaired to Centerville though. TM will have their hands full with HIghlands.

TM will have their hands full with HIghlands.

This is going to be a great game. The question wil be how Highlands handles the speed and size of TM.

How has Highlands fared vs a Big and Fast team in the past?

Highlands seems like a smaller and typical Northmont team, who runs the ball more. So TM has had gone against teams like Highlands before. So the biggest adjustment will be Highlands vs the size and speed. Especially at WR, where TM goes 6'6" 243, 6'2 185, 6'5" 220, 6'3" 210, 5'10" 182 (4.48), 6'4" 210.

Highlands also has a history of playing teams who over match them. HHS is definetly not afraid of ANYONE, and will play anyone. Just one of those teams who believe they can learn a lot from playing a power house team.

There have been many sign Division I in past years. You just cited two in the past three years, Ben Person (Offensive Lineman) at Ohio State, and Josh Cousins (Quarterback) at Air Force. You missed Cedric Tolbert who plays defensive back at Cincinnati. Also, Xenia's quarterback this past year, Zach Furlong, signed at Iowa after being recruited as an athlete by many top Division I schools. What is that....four in the past three years? Not bad, huh?

You obviously do not know as much about Xenia as you claim!

I will tell you what I know. Trotwood Madison has some great individual talent this year, but has no football history. Maurice Douglas has it going in the right direction, but must prove they can play up to their potential.

Good luck against the Birds.......I think you will need it!

You would be surprised where all of this Playing as a TEAM stuff came from. I for one agree that Trotwood is going to be another great challenge for the Birds.
