April 18, 200719 yr Chuck Hayes plays 22 minutes a night in the NBA as a 6'6" power forward. Pettigrew will struggle if he is asked to play the 3, IMHO. He is going to UK if Billy G. wants him, otherwise I think he'll end up at XU or WKU and will be a solid contributor at either spot. How many other 6'6'' power forwards can you name? I'm a huge Chuck Hayes fan because of the way he plays the game and his heart. I love to see him play and enjoy it when he does well. But, I'd be remissed if we overlooked the fact that he's playing with (and next to) one of the best centers in the game - 7'6'' Yao Ming.

Are you going to actually list guys who are 6'6'', or just relatively undersized guys who play in the NBA? Danny Fortson - 6'8'' 260 lbs. (Averaging 2.9 points, 3.10 rebounds) Rodney Rogers - 6'7'' 270 pound 3 point specialist Ryan Gomes - 6'7'' 250 lbs. - Good choice; he's a solid player. Kenny Thomas - 6'7'' 250 - Has played a total of 49 minutes since March 15. Fortunately for Pettigrew, he's probably the most like Ryan Gomes. The others have made a great living in the NBA, but are far from superstars in the NBA. How tall is Pettigrew? I've heard anywhere from 6'4'' to 6'6'', and that's a HUGE difference.

I think Pettigrew can contribute early (contribute, not star) at WKU or XU -- I think we all agree that UK may be a stretch. I absolutely don't think that UK should have to offer a KY kid every year. The state produces a lot of solid ballplayers, but not a ton of SEC kids. Of course we have missed on some too. The Lofton effect -- I like that.

Not necessarily Mr. Basketball, but there have been several players who were good enough to play for UK even in the recent down years. And as for next year and they year after there will be several who are good enough. The past few years: Patrick Sparks Justin Doelman Ross Neltner Chris Lofton Jared Carter??? As for Pettigrew, I do not think he was the best player in the state this season. I believe Miller and Mackey are better, and obviously much better prospects. And IMO, a lot will argue with me, I think Walls is better. The next few years: Darius Miller Bud Mackey Scotty Hopson Jacob Jenkins? The 2 Rose Hill boys?
