Thought troutman and Jacobs both played well. A 5th year senior would have an advantage..moved out of state to get around the rules ,Prep school, played , got hurt, then came back.. come on.. that does go against the rules.

I don't know that Haddix fits the general description of a "fifth-year senior" ... but the bottom line is that he was ineligible and played out of state last season. Case closed.

Obviously the case is closed because they did not let him tryout. I think it was a good gesture by the people who were trying to work it out for him to play. From what I understand is he is 17 years old and lived right beside Scott Co high school is whole life and can't play his senior year. Its a sad situation. You have to feel for the kid.

Greg Rice and Ryan Whitaker doesnt surprise me at all. I picked both to make the ream, although Ryan may have been a bit of a long shot.

 

Question: Did they cut the # of players trying out down after Friday night?

 

I've said all along that Greg Rice was one of the better players in the state. He and Austin Hill both. I wouldn't be surprised to see both make the team.

Haddix was not a 5th year senior. He repeated 8th grade, was ruled ineligible his senior year in HS because he repeated 8th grade. He was only in HS 4 years. He went out of state and played prep school after he was ruled ineligible by the KSHAA, not as you say "to get around the rules".

Didn't get the chance to catch Holmes this season but after seeing Rice as a Jr I thought he was one of the more talented players in NKY. Around these parts you don't see to much dunking other than on a break, the kid is a real athlete and I thought he had a nice mid range game to boot.

How did Spencer Perrin do and does it look like he might make the team? He is one of the most talented high school players I have seen in a while. I was wondering how he'd fare in a game with similar/superior talent.

Rice has been one of the most athletic players in nky since his soph year. If he were 2 inches taller at maybe 6'6 or 6'7 he'd be a big D1 recruit.

Rice is a little more athletic than Hill. And at his height, he is a lot better than most both inside and out. Rice is an athletic forward, Hill is more of a SG type player.

 

Rice is good down low because he's a lot quicker than the big men who are guarding him, and it helps that he can jump out of the gym. Just ask any team he dunked on this year.

Hill is projected as a better college player and rightfully so, but Rice is just more athletic and tougher to stop than Hill is.

I am sorry, but you cannot be a 5th year senior if you do not go to high school for 5 years. I understand Haddix broke the rules and all that, but he is not a 5th year senior.
