Agreed. And it's quite hypocritical that two of the most outspoken people on the Imus issue are Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, who both have made some uncalled for and unethical statements in the past.

:thumb: My thoughts exactly. I don't agree at all with much of what Imus says. Sharpton and Jackson are just jumping on the bandwagon to gain attention. IMO they are no better.

On the Today show this a.m., one guest said he felt Imus had the right to speak his mind, but enough of the mean stuff was enough. He feels the advertisers should have higher standards and insist the meanness disappear and be replaced with goodness. I tend to agree. The violence and bad attitudes on tv are horrible.

I think Imus was wrong, but might have been shafted, as well. IMO, his ratings were below par and management realized this was a great opportunity to get rid of Imus and get a new show on the air that will get more viewers. Also, his comments were ridiculous, but were they bad enough to cause such an uproar?

I don't agree with Imus' statements, but what if an African American had made the comments? I believe that it would never have reached the national spotlight. Look at the comment that Michael Irvin made about Tony Romo. That was racial, but people were not calling for his head. It was reported and discussed and then dismissed a day or two later.

I don't care for those, who attempt to gain attention, through belittlement or raunchy humor, by means of improper jokes, comments, sayings and actions....

Rosie, Imus, Stern, etc....serve no purpose or entertainment, to me. I stated on another thread, I wouldn't open the door, if Rosie was in my back yard.

The problem I have with Rosie is her level of vituperation. She can freely express her views like any American but she needs to tone it down.

With that said, I don't think you can compare her opinions to Imus' thoughtless and demeaning remarks. I might disagree with her but her remarks (that I've heard) are not blanket statements about a particular group as Imus' were.

Birds of a feather . Both obnoxious loud mouths . Also if Imus and Howard Stern are examples of NY talk radio ,God have mercy on NY.

I do not agree with the words that Don Imus said and I haven't been hired to be his PR person but does anyone really know all there is to know about Imus?

He has spend his life working for charities that benefit children. Yesterday (him) and today (his wife) raised $3,430.683 for three childrens charities.

He runs the Imus Ranch in New Mexico and they bring children who have cancer to.

He, along with lots of others, stated the Intrepid Fallen Heros Fund and the money they raised was used to build the Center for the Intrepid in Texas. This is a center that injured women and men come to for rehab from the war.

He started a dialog about how little a family got for the death of one their family members in the war and the government raised the amount.

He has done way more than I can come up with at this time. I'm not saying what he has done, in anyway, makes up for his hurtful words, but this man is way more than just those words.

I guess what disappoints me the most is that people are so quick pass judgement on someone without taking the time to see what this person has done for so many.
