The difference is Tubby inherited a team 2 years removed from winning the national championship and a team that was upset in the national title the year before.

Billy G. is inheriting a team with plenty of holes to fill.

Well it doesnt sound like there is going to be to many of tubby's players left. I've heard that jasper, porter and stevenson are transfering and we already lost morris to the pros. I do not know how true this is but I have heard this.

another things though, If Billy does win with these kids then he is doing something that tubby couldnt do. When tubby won with ricks recruits rick had already proven he could win with them. I really dont see him coming in an winning right away though.

Jasper and Stevenson have said they are staying. I have not seen a quote from Porter.

Wins a Title in the first year? Let me say I don't think it will happen but.........:sssh:

Will they say " He won with Tubby's players!"

As the other guys have said, no. If Tubby had been to the title game the last two years, shoot, even 1 final four, you might get that argument.

However, winning a title with a team that got bounced in the 2nd round and lost its best player to the NBA doesn't really compare to what Tubby inherited.

Both will definitely stay. I would say that there is a chance of Porter leaving. He was another one that came pretty much just b/c of Tubby. FWIW, he will probably never play many minutes under Gillispie. It may be the best thing for him if he leaves.

He did not inherit the same team. Guys graduate and move on. Gillispie didn't inherit the exact same team as well, .. guys graduate and move on. I didn't like the argument that Tubby's UK title was 'Ricks guys', they were Tubbys guys. I don't like the argument that these are Tubby's guys, they are Billys.

A coach who inherits the cupboard loaded has nowhere to got but down...unless he reloads. The cupboard isn't bare right now,but there are enough holes there to consider this a rebuiding project..however, the recruits are out there..Billy G just has to work hard to get them..and with the right recruits, this could be a SHORT rebuiding project. We just have to be patient and see.

With these players, if he wins it, he will be heralded throughout the land.
