Rank Coaching Jobs in State

Featured Replies

I think the original question had to do with coaching as far as the skill level, tradition of the school, the fanbase, the alumni etc. The question wasn't "Rank the highest paying coaching jobs in the state."

Pay has something to do when you take a job..People do need money to live these days.......  All of the things that have been listed are good indicators of a good job. MONEY being one of the factors.......

By the way how is a good job defined?

Support from the adminstration?

Pay (teacher/coaching)?

Teaching Schedule?

How many asst. in the building?

Feeder Programs?

Fan Support?

Budget/Fundraising?

I would say every one of those except for pay. If you have a job coaching at a very rich school that can pay you alot of money but has a bad team or program that doesn't mean that you have one of the top coaching jobs in the state, that means that you have a high income.

You sure are not going to break the bank with a high school coaching salary.

I would describe the best jobs as in what jobs would your EGO most want you to take!

Which is defined by what? John L. Smith has the best coaching job in America this year. He was paid over 2 million (I think) and does not coach. Now his EGO is bruised but his stress level is lower, no more time away from family, and bank account is probably ok as well. My point is EGO is the reason that many coaches take a medicore job instead of taking an asst. coaching job at a great situation. Do not judge the best jobs on Wins and Losses.

What is the salary of a prominent public high school football coach?

I'd say most would consider good paying public school supplements at 10,000-14,000.

Good point but I think I meant you have a free and immediate choice to take any job....what would they be?

I think the top school supplements are quite a bit higher than that.....:D

Yes and no. They are not talking about their teaching salary with that. Some schools like Madison Central give extended days on their contract. I think teachers are signed in for 180 days or 185 but as a coach you get your styping and 30 extended days to put you at 210 or whatever the contract reads.

What ever you make on a normal teaching day you add up your gross pay divide it by 180 or 185 ( I can't remember the exact teaching days) and thats what you make an a normal teaching day. You will get paid 30 more days at that daily rate at certain coaching areas. The better the degree you have the more money you make in teaching and in coaching.

So it isn't always a base set salary your degree matters in it as well.

Breathitt would have to be up there. You would get the support of everyone in the county, in just about everything you do. You have an amazing stadium, and weight room. The fan base is great, and tradition is rich. In my opinion Breathitt would be in the top 10. If i had to pick one from eastern kentucky, it would be between Breathitt and Bell county.

Why is Prestonsburg a tough job?

Coach's at Prestonsburg in last 25 years had to win or get out of town.

I knew someone that interviewed for the Central job and they said they would get 55 days. That makes it one of the highest paid jobs in the state. I think that Madsion Southern is similar. Would that make SOuthern one of the best jobs in the state? According to some it would.

Coaching a kentucky high school football team $2,000

Coaching a top ten kentucky high school team $10,000

MAKING A DIFFERNCE IN A KID'S LIFE..... PRICELESS

Keep all of the catholic schools out of the equation.....They don't pay enough and that is what I would say is part of a top 10 job...

Didn't Beatty turn down Valdosta a couple of years ago? I would bet that Beatty is probably the highest paid in the state. I may be way off but I know coaches at big time high school programs in the south make more just coaching then the coaches in Kentucky make teaching and coaching.
