I'm sure its a blow beacause they will not have the opportunity to compete in the Class A. But you have to look at the positives of the community growing.

That's what I'm alluding to. How can your community getting larger be a negative thing?

My first class at U of L in 1998 had the same amount of people in it than my entire school when I graduated. :thumb:

This is to bad for the all A in the eigth region.

They were just barely over the number, ..they should be ready to compete in the Sweet 16 now! After all that is the only State tournament available after all A.

 

The Schools in the 8th range from the size of Eminence to the largest which were Carroll and Owen, most are in the 250-350 in the top 3 grades. Carroll is probably the largest school now in this region that can still compete.

A little fluctuation in enrollment shouldn't automatically disqualify them.

I definitely think the All "A" should use 9-12 numbers, like the KHSAA has for 20 years. Using the 10-12 numbers makes absolutely, positively no sense at all.

 

I'd put the number at 500 or 550 though. If you go with 700, I'm guessing 60 percent of the schools in the state would qualify.

I cannot understand why the KHSAA does not use the current enrollment figures (instead of the enrollments from 2 years ago) when determining the football classes.............I guess I'm in the wrong forum though to be arguing this.

Schools would not know the correct numbers until after the first football game. And if a school is suddendly too big for the All-A the basketball schedules are already set.

Exactly...you cannot just throw these things together at the last minute.

I think another reason that they only use 10-12 is because some of the extremely smaller schools start their high school in the tenth grade. I believe Heritage academy is middle school from 7th to 9th.

Most of the high schools are 9-12. Having the 9th graders in another building wouldn't stop a school from sending in 9-12 numbers. Just add them together.

The positives out weigh the negatives. More programs, more activities etc.

There has to be a cut off somewhere and the present number has been successful so far but as a Gallatin fan I will sure miss having Owen in the All A.

Most of the high schools are 9-12. Having the 9th graders in another building wouldn't stop a school from sending in 9-12 numbers. Just add them together.

 

But you would have to use the previous years numbers if using 9-12. You can't use current enrollment 9-12 totals because if School A suddenly is too big for the All-A they would already have allowed for participation in the All-A on their schedule.

 

Likewise if School B is suddenly small enough for the All-A they would not have included that on their schedule.
