^ What kinda size are we talking about on OL and DL in general...? I would really like for X to go with the speed and agility over the power and size.... When its all said and done, this is what it will take to win it all.....

Glaser has won it quite a bit with power and size. That's the game that X plays, and I would be shocked to see them go a different route. The problem is that if Glaser doesn't have the pieces to fit the system, he rarely adjusts the system. On the flip side, if he has a "special piece" he rarely adjusts the system to take advantage of the "special piece."

I would love to see a backfield with DJ, Duece and Simmons. That's a lot of power, speed and headaches for defenses. I don't feel like there was enough sets with Vic and Deuce last year.

To get better, this year's team needs to be tougher. I felt that last year's team wasn't tough enough. They armtackled on D and didn't fly to the ball like they should. O-line wasn't able to impose its will on the man lined across the way either. From reports I've heard though, this year's team has been getting after it in the offseason.

Its pretty simple...put the best atheletes on the field. If that means some kids going both ways..so be it.

Do you guys like X's change to the 4-3 defense?

I really think this will be the hungriest group of Tigers in years. They have underachieved the last two years, but that was due to a chemistry problem. I think X has that all figured ot coming into this season..and certainly will be one of the top 2 teams this fall.

I dont keep up with St. X a whole lot, but when have they not been one of the top two teams?

Can't know until we see it on the field against good competition. We'll know come September.

Guys:

Here's how I see the team for 2007

Zoeller QB- then Brutscher then Buehner

RB- Duece, Montano, Knotts, Wilkerson

WR-Simmons, Brinkman, Kuiper, McClendon, Cecil, Grayson

TE, Brown, Nazr,

OL- Gahm and 4 others

Punt and Kickoff returner- Simmons, Montano

Defense

DL

Matt Smith, Chris Jones, Carpenter, Foy, Rayome, Craig Brutscher, Hildt,

LB- Heuser, Devine, Hall, Coombs

DB- Allgier, Hale, Merrimee, Blake, Kamber, Galbraith

K, P, Brian B- same as last year, Wyatt Gray, Wilkerson, back up

Questions are on OL first and injuries. Rumor has it that Matt Smith may go both ways for awhile. We lost or had limited Victor to injuries and cramps in 6 games, and while it is not an excuse, we need to get deeper. I truly believe that Special teams will return as an asset. Have you ever kicked off sport turf versus rainy mud?

You need to add the Boner kid at RB and the good sophs to be in Neal and Conley to play multiple positions on the field.

Last Year!!!!!!!!!!:madman:

Yes. Should make the defense more athletic.

Last season and 00-02.

TigerKat, I agree with you that those two sophomores, Neal and Conley, have too much talent and speed not to be vital contributors somewhere on the field. I see an extremely bright future for both. They have some Vic Anderson ability in them. Give them just a little daylight and they are GONE!

I also agree with Greendandy. Take the BEST players, put them on the field, and go at it.

There really have been a number of great posts on this thread. In addition to the two above, jimmyref, BuddyBW, Xtiger69, and xtiger have also provided some super insights into this 2007 Tiger team...GO TIGERS!! :thumb:

Not trying to be negative but do you see this happening? When you couple Coach Glaser's reluctance to make changes (already noted in this thread by the X-men) with the fact that he openly criticized his primary rival for this exact method over the past few years. It makes it kind of hard for him to reverse field and declare that it is now the answer. JMO, of course.

Yes. Should make the defense more athletic.

A change in formation can not make the defense more athletic...athletes do...now, I will say, it gives the athletes more opportunities to make plays all over the field...making the team LOOK more athletic.

It has made a huge difference for us :thumb:
