2007 St. Xavier

I can go with that. I guess I used the term underachieved being that the 2005 squad was being claimed as X's best ever, and they didn't win. Nothing more, nothing less.

I can go with that as well and would say that this was one of the most overachieving Rock teams at the right time. No thread jacking here just making a point. St. X was that good in 05. 07 If they can bring back Brent C I would say they have a shot at being the best team X has Had.

Could be, but let's not threadjack here.

I think that St.X's chemistry will be much better, as RockPride said. I also think that the special teams will need to be improved upon. Special teams, normally a dangerous weapon for the Tigers, last year seemed mediocre to paltry at times. I think that serious time in the off season spent on honing the fundamentals of special teams will show marked improvement for this X squad.

Also who will be the QB next season? That was one of the things that I felt the 2005 team had that was lacking in the 2006 incarnation. Brent Curley was as good an on the field leader as I have ever seen, I think his graduation had more of an effect on that Tiger squad than anything else did.

It's 100% Zoeller next year I think.

Special teams improvement and quarterback productivity are key to a good season for the 2007 Tigers. The 2006 team played to its ability, but the overall talent was not there. The seniors were 6-4 as freshmen and 9-3 last year. As freshmen, two of their losses were lopsided-Male and Trinity. Those teams were their only losses in 2006, and the talent disparity was too great to overcome.

As to chemistry, this is an area that is difficult to quantify. Who knows the "chemistry" of any 2007 team yet.

I understand that the J.V. QB from last year Brutcher will be the Q.B. and the Zoller kid will go to fullback.

The O line is still going to be the problem especially if you saw the T-X J/V game last year the QB spent most of his time on his back.

The new field will be great can't wait for my nephew to get to play on it in a few years.

I don't know where you get your info but the QB will be Zoeller and not one of the o-line contibutors form the JV game last year will start varsity this year.

A healty DJ Hall could really help this team.

This is news to me, but I am a bit "out of the loop" these days. Brutscher can play and he never seems to get too rattled, but I think the success of this squad should start around Ben being the QB. If he gets fully comfortable in his role and continues to improve his reads under the tutoring of Coach Wags, I think his talent and the Tigers success could be unlimited. There won't be many out there with Ben's size, strength, speed and athletic ability. Looking forward to being a fulltime fan again in 2007 since I am about over the pouting period of my son's HS career being over in 2005:D .

I agree, especially at FB. I heard he has grown quite a bit in the past year-can anyone confirm his current size?

Guys:

Here's how I see the team for 2007

Zoeller QB- then Brutscher then Buehner

RB- Duece, Montano, Knotts, Wilkerson

WR-Simmons, Brinkman, Kuiper, McClendon, Cecil, Grayson

TE, Brown, Nazr,

OL- Gahm and 4 others

Punt and Kickoff returner- Simmons, Montano

Defense

DL

Matt Smith, Chris Jones, Carpenter, Foy, Rayome, Craig Brutscher, Hildt,

LB- Heuser, Devine, Hall, Coombs

DB- Allgier, Hale, Merrimee, Blake, Kamber, Galbraith

K, P, Brian B- same as last year, Wyatt Gray, Wilkerson, back up

Questions are on OL first and injuries. Rumor has it that Matt Smith may go both ways for awhile. We lost or had limited Victor to injuries and cramps in 6 games, and while it is not an excuse, we need to get deeper. I truly believe that Special teams will return as an asset. Have you ever kicked off sport turf versus rainy mud?

^ What kinda size are we talking about on OL and DL in general...? I would really like for X to go with the speed and agility over the power and size.... When its all said and done, this is what it will take to win it all.....

He will be starting somewhere! Safety, WR, RB, OLB., DE.
