I was three years old when this game was originally played. My parents tell me

that it was the first game I ever sat down and watched all the way through. It

seems ironic that I got word today that I was accepted to Duke University, for

today is the anniversary. I guess I have my own little Blue Devil vs. Wildcat game

happening in my own life.

 

With all this having been said, Laettner is still a creep.

 

Congrats on getting in and I agree 110% about Laettner he has and will always be one.

Put Timberlake on the passer and Riddick next to Christian. Why was Richie on the floor? These two things and the Cats would have won.

That is the best game of all time but I will never be over it. I have more reason to hate Duke than most. You can PM me to ask me why.

I have the original from the game in 92 in my collection. The only losing UK game that I ever recorded and keep.

I watched it and immediately hit the bottle.

I watched the whole thing AGAIN last night....UK was flat out amazing....they played with so much heart, and their tenacity was awesome. Duke simply shot lights out 72% in the first half, and over 65% for the game. They also hit almost all of their free throws. For the longest time I thought that Laettner should have maybe been ejected for what he did...but he did get a technical, and everyone seemed content with it at the time. Here's the absolute most perplexing thing, and I know it must still haunt Pitino....UK guarded the inbounder on EVERY single posession that Duke threw the ball in on. EVERY ONE, but the last one...wow. For what it's worth, when Duke won then, I told my dad that there was no way they win in the Final Four, because of mental and physical fatigue. That was probably the championship game.

I also watched "Battle Lines" afterward. A lot of interesting interviews.

I'm glad I just saw this thread. A great game until the end and I do not want to ever re=live that moment. But yes, the greatest game probably in College basketball.

I was fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to be able to attend the game. I was sitting about 5 rows behind the Ky bench with the Ky players parents & UK bigwigs. What the TV didn't show was prior to Laettner receiving the inbounds pass, he threw Pelphry to the floor and Feldhaus was left to guard him. Pitinio was double teaming him with those two which I thought was pretty smart at the time. It was a blatant foul, but I guess no ref would have the guts to call it at that point. After he made the shot, I turned around and the first person I saw was Allen Feldhaus Sr. I'll never forget the look on his face! It felt like I was in a morgue. It was the longest 10 hour drive home I've ever had.
