I didn't vote and will not bc I supported Tubby, think that he is a class act and a great ambassador for college basketball and was a great representative for the Univ. of Kentucky. Great man, great coach, did things the right way, well respected all over the nation as a person and a coach.

I'm glad he's gone because I felt he wasn't doing a good enough job and his teams were excruciatingly painful to watch. Personally, I could care less if UK's coach is red, yellow, black, white, gay, straight, jew, catholic or any combination. I don't care if he paints himself purple and stands on his head during games. As Al Davis says, "Just win baby!"

I wonder if anyone thought that maybe, just maybe the majority of folks glad to see Tubby gone are from eastern Kentucky due to the intense passion for UK basketball in this part of the state? Of all the people from around the state that I've met, NONE are as passionate about the Cats as are the folks from the eastern part of the state...especially in the mountains.

i voted and i wanted him to stay. his overall record earned him at least another year to see if he could turn the program back around. 263 wins and 83 losses speaks for itself.

Cant say I can argue with any of that. Great point. I'm in a bowling league, every year we fill out brackets. 20 dollars a piece. This year out of 60 some brackets more than 20 people (not me) had Kentucky in the final four, championship game or winning it all. I know that for a fact because I helped the guy running it score them. To quote one guy "I dont really think the cats are gonna win it all this year, but 20 dollars isnt enough money to make me bet against them." Yeah, its pretty stupid to give your money away if you ask me, but you cant say they arent loyal.

I take offense to the people in this thread who think that people from Eastern Kentucky are more racist simply because they are leading this pole. If you are going to make an accusation like this you're going to have to come with more than just heresay. The people in Eastern Kentucky are the most passionate Kentucky Basketball fans I know. No matter what, they always support their team.

 

I'm also completely tired of this stereotype of people from Eastern Kentucky and Appalachia in general as Hillbillies. The people in the Appalachian region are intelligent, understanding, caring people and the implication that they are more racist than anyone else in the rest of this state is unfounded and ludacris.
