I agree there are idiots all around us. Sometimes I am one. It was time for a change and race had nothing to do with it.

Something to consider on this poll...not all areas of the state are equally represented on BGP. I am sure some of the mods would know this geographic breakdown, but to say that more EKYers (or EKYians, not sure what you want to be called) than WKYers/ians wanted Tubby gone would be a skewed viewpoint if the numbers of BGPers from each region are very unequal.

I think you're right tbg. During football I'm always in the high school fb forum and am always amazed at the participation of EKy folks on here. Heck you'll get three pages on a jv game. I would guess the bulk of the membership is from EKY.

I don't care I just voted anyway.

At that rate Hillary has a chance!

I'm from EKY and the only prejudice I recall during Tubby's tenure was the prejudice shown by Tubby to his son in allowing him to wear a UK uniform.

OK...that was a joke, but I really don't think Saul should have been a Wildcat.

I'm from Eastern KY too, and the sad thing is I never called anyone racist on this site but some people feel I did. I'm a HUGE OTS fan and hated seeing him gone but the fact of the matter is, I was at a public place this weekend someone said they were glad he was gone and now we can hire a white coach and it was agreed by several other people. It's sad and in no way is everyone like that but there are people out there. I had to leave after that.

I apologize to anyone from EKY that I offended it was in no way meant to be. I know alot of people in other areas and states and that is thier general view.

1. There are most definitely more members from EKY then WKY on here which is probably more of a factor to the poll results.

2. Fans from EKY are NOT more passionate about UK BB then fans from WKY. That is plain and simply an ignorant statement to make.

3. Tubby was never given a chance by many because of the color of his skin and not just from EKY.

Eastern Kentucky has a bad rep as being more racist then not. Whether or not it is justified I can't say. The only part of Eastern KY I have even been to is Ashland (if that is considered EKY). But I could relay some stories from coaches I know that I know that have worked in EKY that wouldn't paint a pretty picture of it.

Please note that I am in no way calling anyone from anywhere racist.

Looks like us racist, cousin marryin', coach hatin' redneck thugs have some work to do. Those blue-bloods in Northern Kentucky and Lexington/Bluegrass are a catchin' us fast in the poll. Ol' Blue under the porch was always kinda happy with Tubby and really liked Ricky, too. When we could pick up the grainy radio signal here in the mountains, we'd all just put down our rifles and quit our feudin', pull out our corn cob pipes and jest take it real easy and listen to Cawood call the game. Well, I gotta go now. Teacher Sally Mae says if I work hard, this just may be the year I get out of 6th grade. It sure has been a long 10 years. Seeeeeeeeesh!

  It was all funny but when I got here I started rolling!

I have always been big on statistics...:D If you don't know what they mean, then you can be led to believe anything.

I am trying to promote membership in my neck of the woods. But, I agree...EKYians definitely come through during FB season. That is why I think this particular poll is so misleading.

From these poll results, I see that Lex and Cynthiana is full of racists that were glad to get rid of Tubby because of his color.

Right!!

  :irked:

I think UK and Tubby were going to have a great year next year.

Tell me about it...:irked:

I'm glad he's gone because I felt he wasn't doing a good enough job and his teams were excruciatingly painful to watch. Personally, I could care less if UK's coach is red, yellow, black, white, gay, straight, jew, catholic or any combination. I don't care if he paints himself purple and stands on his head during games. As Al Davis says, "Just win baby!"

Which is precisely just what the Tubbster did. In fact, he won to the tune of 26 games a year over his tenure. Unless he won national titles every year, it just wasn't going to be enough for some folks who never liked him from the beginning.

All three statements are true.
