7th straight state crown to private schools

Having something constructive to say has never been a prerequisite for many of those that favor a split.

That can go both ways.

It really isn't up to the commissioner. In the end, it gets down to a matter of rights and money. We will all disagree as to what should be done and our arguments will be dictated by our personal leanings and biases. We will never agree.

Nevertheless, I still want Claude to list the schools he has "indicted" along with the twelve counties and the three different states from which those schools "lure" students. Accusations without proof are worthless.

RIGHTS

That can go both ways.

Yes but the request in this thread was asking for someone on the private side to make a constructive comment. I was just pointing out that has never been a condition before.

If constructive comments were a requirement, my post total would be cut in half.:D

Do any kids who play sports get scholarships to go to private schools?

Are you saying private school programs don't target the best athletes in m iddle schools?

Whatever.

You have no clue. Come back with solid facts and stop spouting off opinions and passing them as facts.

It's not fair and it never will be fair. If you look at Trinity and Ryle last year that was a complete miss match. I didn't watch either team play all season, but from living in the NKY area, I kew Ryle was going to lose by about 40 points. If you look at the small area that Ryle draws kids from, and Trinity being able to recruit from all over Louisville its rediculous. I will stay stay Covcath (AAA) another private school would have given Trinity a much better game and in my opinion would have probably beat Trinity. You will see more and more public schools take matters into their own hands (Highlands, Beechwood) until this is fixed.

"take matters into their own hands"? What does that mean? Both teams mentioned have won plenty of titles. In fact Hichlands chose to play up against schools larger than themselves, how do you explain that?

FYI, the mismatch in the Trinity/Ryle game was at the coaching level.

I think if you lived in the NKY area, you would understand more of what I meant by it.

Then again, you could just explain what you mean.

You really can't make a statement like you did without explaining it, unless of course it is just more bluster from the public school side.

I am anxious to hear what you mean as well.

I say this to everyone generally, but the presence of this debate in the public/private forum does not exempt everyone from Rule #6. Show some decorum, please, and refrain from the personal comments.

Half at most.....which is still more expensive than free, I think

BTW, if we "urban" folk have an advantage...maybe that's where the split would be...urban champs, and rural champs...cool with me...who do you think would have more exposure then. Would that satisfy your need to crown everyone champion.

Half? Is that Trinity's self impossed restriction on aid?

The scholarships or aid given are sometimes called "work study programs"

the money "earned" by working these programs is well and above the money the student would make dueing a similar job outside of the school, also it is tax free as it is applied to tuition. And I am familiar with these programs because I participate in one.

That isn't the case at Trinity in my experience.

The work is hard and the pay is low, but the payoff is priceless. JMO, of course.

If the privates were split into one or two distinct Regions and was able to send only a ratio of the public to private schools to the state tournament, then who could complain? Don't split privates from publics post season tourneys, but place them in their own region(s) to compete on who is allowed to participate in the state tournaments.

This will not remove the percieved "unlevel" playing field but it would eliminate how many private/public schools are in the state tournament field. It will not eliminate Trinity, St.X, Assumption(vball), and LCA(bball) from winning their state championships but it will stop publics from saying they don't have a chance anymore.

PUT THE PRIVATES IN THEIR OWN REGION(S), and districts then let the winners no matter who they are play for a state title.
