Ashland 68 Boyd 66

Featured Replies

Its TomCats. I'm not sure why you insist on spelling Tomcats with a K:sleep:

It was a great game. Boyd had the lead for most of the game and was another nail-biter for Ashland. Both teams played with pride and all in all it was a clean game between two heated rivals. Both teams acted with class.

The only downside would be the several bottles of water and Nation Guard Basketballs that were thrown at the Ashalnd celebration after the game by the Boyd side of the gym. I don't think anyone was hurt, but that's not good sportsmanship IMO.

It was dissappointing to see this. As far as the game it was a great game and Ashland did not fold however after missing 4 or 5 layups that maybe would have made this game not so close. Ashland and it's seniors get to keep playing and hopefully can make it to the state tournament.

That was how a high school basketball game should be played.

Alhough I am dissappointed that the official swallowed his whistle on the last play. Boyd had the pick play set perfect and it worked to perfection with the Ashland player completely running over Casey Branham, but the official was too gutless to call it.

Congrats to Ashland and to BC on an extremely exciting game.

Not to mention the clock keeper letting 10 SECONDS RUN OFF THE CLOCK when a foul was called in the 4th with 5 minutes left in the game. It just kept running....runnin...runnin..."OH maybe I better stop the clock......." 10 seconds is alot of time compared to 1.5 seconds......I knew that was going to come back and haunt Boyd..... And the fans running on the floor with time left on the clock????? No technical????? Have to agree these refs were gutless. Some Boyd fans did get out of hand throwing items onto the floor which was NOT ACCEPTABLE. I would like to apologize to Ashland for that cause it not only looks bad on Boyd but ALL fans too. Congrat to Coach Biggs and the Tomcats....It was trult a great game.

Your right they needed to make the call on the last play the BLOCKING call gives Ashland the ball out of bounds. Time also ran at the end of the 1st half after Boyd made 2 F.T. the clock started when Drew picked the ball up . I guess that means that the time running in both halfs its a wash . One thing kingofthejungle you are right about it was a great game.

This was a great game, Selby absolutely dominated the 1st half but got into foul trouble and had to sit and watch most of the 2nd half. Matt Thomas played a huge game, making clutch shots, hitting 3's, and driving to the lane and finishing. Matt was big time tonight. Both teams played well and made some big shots down the stretch. The stat that really killed Boyd (besides Selbys minutes on the bench) was turnovers. Boyd 18 Ashland 9, now that really hurt them.

Boyd is going to be a team no one wants to play in Morehead. I wouldn't be suprised if they make it to the regional championship game, Selby is a force and Boyd has a lot of players that compliment his dominant inside game. Good luck to both teams in Morehead.

Congratulations to the Tomcats on being crowned District Champions!! This is a hard nosed group of kids who never say never and will be a tough draw in the regional tournament.

Also great job by Coach Pratt and the Boyd County Lions.

Good luck to both teams in the Regionals.

Coach Biggs won his 4th consecutive district title last night. He won the first three with Pendleton County in the 38th.

Tough loss for Boyd last night! It was a heckuva game though!

Congrats to Ashland!

Great game, pretty even officiating I thought. I was very impressed with Mr. Selby's play both during the game and after the game. This guy seems to really enjoy the game, Class Act!

Nice win for Ashland. Selby's time on bench was likely the difference. When he is on the floor, his presence dominates the game. How many minutes did he miss? I believe he played almost all 32 minutes in the first round and avoided foul trouble.

Although the difference was only two points, the difference in drawing Elliott County and Lewis County makes those two points enormous.

Also congrats to Euton, Jackson, Barker, and Blanton for making all tournament team!

Maybe Kingofthejungle should have tried to look at it thru the Maroon goggles instead of the RED....But If I could guess I would say he would still rather have the RED goggles on, win or lose....

Obviously the last call was questionable, and I honestly feel it was a pushoff charge, but never the less that is the call made and should not be taking anything away from Ashland which made adjustments at halftime to win the game. Boyd has a terrible time the last few years, utilizing big men in the middle, especially in the second halves of games.

Congrats to Coach Biggs and the Tomcats and congrats to Boyd on making the season interesting so far, which was not expected early in the season.

what exactly is a "pushoff charge?"

what exactly is a "pushoff charge?"
Usually is a hand extended, forearm or shoulder, into the defensive player.
