I don't like saying it, BUT they have earned it. Congrats to the Cats on getting the win and the district title. It doesn't say on the trophy, champions but barely, they are district champs and go into Morehead on a roll.

Selby was unstoppable in the first half and I was a little surprised they didn't try to go to him more in the second, although he was playing a little tentative because of fouls. Good luck to both teams in the region.

Good luck to both teams in the region. 18pts in the first half... 0 in the 2nd.... They had no answer for Selby, only Selby can stop Selby which is what happened, picked up about 3 fouls at or around half court triping guards and such. You cant score setting on the bench.
kinglion Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 That was how a high school basketball game should be played. Alhough I am dissappointed that the official swallowed his whistle on the last play. Boyd had the pick play set perfect and it worked to perfection with the Ashland player completely running over Casey Branham, but the official was too gutless to call it. Congrats to Ashland and to BC on an extremely exciting game.

Congrats to Ashland and especially Robby Wilcox, Drew McDavid, and Matt Thomas for bringing the title home their senior year.(I know Matt's not a senior). They truely deserve it. It must really feel good for Robby to cut the nets down after the incredible adversity he has overcome during his career with the injuries and illness. It's great to see a kid who works as much as he does rewarded for his ethics. He definately deserves it more than anyone in the region. For Drew McDavid to capture another district championship during his wonderful career is just icing on the cake. Both of them are just terrific kids and are role models for the student athlete in high school. Congrats to them and the rest of the Tomcats and good luck next week at Morehead.

Boyd had the lead for most of the game and was another nail-biter for Ashland. Both teams played with pride and all in all it was a clean game between two heated rivals. Both teams acted with class. The only downside would be the several bottles of water and Nation Guard Basketballs that were thrown at the Ashalnd celebration after the game by the Boyd side of the gym. I don't think anyone was hurt, but that's not good sportsmanship IMO.
