Highlands Baseball 2007

Featured Replies

Now we can put all the Spring Break vs Baseball issues behind. The team was announced yesterday. There will be 2 or 3 basketball players join them when their season is over. It's a move in the right direction. Best of luck to all the players and coaches. Have a great season! Go Birds!

Good luck to Coach Johnson and his kids this year. It takes time to right a leaning ship and Mike is setting the ground rules early on, his way or the highway (as in I75 South). Go BIRDS!

Who made the cut?

Everyone that played last year and tried out this year and the few freshman that were added. Nice solid group to try and start getting back on track. Give it a couple years and lets see where they are. Start slamming!!!

Who made the cut?

Allen, Rawlings, Muench, Towels, Ader, Shields, et al. Does it matter?

Did Donnie Brown make the cut???

Barely made it the way I understand. Will definately throw Varsity for the Birds this year.

I know that Donnie was a great pitcher last year but he was throwing against 7th and 8th graders. He'll be throwing from 60 feet and throwing against 17 & 18 yr. olds. Big difference in competition. Just hope that they don't put to much pressure on this young man to perform at such a young age (14 yrs. old). He's going to be a good one !

I agree. He pitched against my son in B league and he was very good though not unhittable. B league though is not varsity baseball. B league is not FROSH baseball.

Is he still throwing in the mid 90's with a drop off the table curve???:D

Yeah he might not of been unhitable but I bet he was unbeatable. This is the missing link for Highlands future baseball along with a couple of other sure bets in Thomas Towles who will be a junior starter this year and Brandon Roller a left hander who will be missing this year due to prior comittments. And if you did indeed witness the Brown kid this past year I'll bet you were thinking "My God, I hope this kid has good control, if not dial 911", I would be willing to bet this kid will be talked about this year in the 9th region as a tough one to figure out. Looks like good days ahead for the Birds.

I do not question the kid's potential - in football or baseball. My only question revolves around THIS year.

Does T-Towles have good stuff? Like his granpappy Jim Bunning did.

How's the pitching staff look. I know that Rawlings, Allen, Towles, and Shields pitched last. With the addition of Donnie Brown ,Oliver Head, and Ben Watson this should be a pretty good staff. Does anyone know of any other pitchers on the team?

Shields is coming off of shoulder injury, so I doubt he'll be on the mound this season. Watson has been a "no show" and the clocks ticking.
