I really believe things can change. I know the city has received alot of criticism over the years for the condition and upkeep of the field. There has already been one meeting between the coaching staff and the Parks Department about the future of the field. A Baseball Committe is being formed to address all issues related to the operation, upkeep and future upgrades to the facilitiy. Things won't be done overnight. It will be a process of phases.

We know it comes down to money. Most things do. I'd rather not discuss budgets on this type of forum. No doubt it's going to be a collaborative effort by several groups. The players and coaches deserve the best facility possible.

Does Highlands allow 8th graders to play ? If so does anyone know if a young man by the name of Schmits tried out and or made it .Great kid , hope the best for him

I think you may be speaking of Luke schmits and he is actually going to St. Joe's this year. He is an 8th grader but recently changed schools. Not sure if this means he will end up a Bred like his Daddy or not.

With all the "hub-bub" surrounding the Baseball team's policy of No Spring Break for baseball players....I came home yesterday to find a fund-raising flyer touting a "Spring Break 'Bird" benefitting the baseball team. (the problem with HHS athletics is...that mascot only works for football....UUUUUUgly lookin' design!). Is this shirt coach sanctioned (lol) ?
