...doesn't Jake Turner pitch also? Will Head pitch with his current leg situation? Favoring it may lead to poor mechanics and arm problems. (hope not!)

Shields is coming off of shoulder injury, so I doubt he'll be on the mound this season. Watson has been a "no show" and the clocks ticking.
I believe that Watson is still playing basketball.

The parents meeting for HHS Baseball was last night. Boy, talk about some coaches with passion for the game. It was refreshing to hear how positive and motivating they were going to be approaching the game of baseball. This program is definately moving in the right direction. The parents and HHS should be proud to have these guys instructing the boys. GO Birds!

I know one, whom is certainly passionate about Baseball at Highlands.....

Work with them parents and encourage your student-athletes, to do the same.

...when was the last time HHS won the region in baseball?

I only can remember the team with Schrader/Mueller/Detzel/Eckert/Fuldner et al in '72 going to state.

There's certainly alot to be excited about. Everything from the coaching staff and players to the proposed improvement of the "ballpark". This could turnout to be a very good relationship between the city and HHS baseball.

Takes both a commitment from Staff and Parents, to make a team into a program.

HHS has some quality people, wanting to make a difference this year and they need the support, of all involved.

Was there something brought up at the meeting last night to make the Coach Johnson think that the city is going to do anything different than in the past to help out the bad situation at Highland Park. Just curious. I haven't heard anything different. Hopefully with the new guy in town it will change.

Coach Johnson is a great person and Highlands was lucky to snag him. I wish the Bluebirds the best of luck this year!

I really believe things can change. I know the city has received alot of criticism over the years for the condition and upkeep of the field. There has already been one meeting between the coaching staff and the Parks Department about the future of the field. A Baseball Committe is being formed to address all issues related to the operation, upkeep and future upgrades to the facilitiy. Things won't be done overnight. It will be a process of phases.

...Have they ever explore lights for that field??

I loved going to Tower Park to watch night games. Nothing like watching Wendels shots carry over the house and into the night.

...and before that...the old field at Ruth Moyer let the lefties try to hit it to the pool waaay before McCovey Cove!!

I'm sure the Title IX police would have a field day with that...
