RockPride
That is completely indicative as to why the program as a whole is not nearly attractive to these kids, as it used to be.
DragonFire
I understand that the 95/96 team was transcendent, but it's pretty interesting to see that that team had nine 100 point games, equivalent to the number they've had under Tubby in his 10 seasons. RockPride
These kids in high school now, do not remember that team.
SomersetFootball
3 games over 120 points scored in the same season is impressive!
UKMustangFan
There aren't many teams that score 100 points in a game anymore. The playing field has been leveled to much.
ActionDan
I hate that "The playing field has been leveled". Some mid-major schools score 100 in a game.... it has a lot to do with playing style. Win 72-64 or 103-96? Sure the 100 point games are exciting to watch, but to me a W is a W. The problem comes when you dont get those.
AverageJoesGym
That does show that UK doesn't score under Smith like they did under Pitino. One interesting thing to note though: The 1997-98 team had no 100 point games, it seems like they ended up doing pretty well though. :thumb:
Original Rookie
I bet if you look at 100 point games then compared to now for all of college basketball you will see the same trend.
just 4 fun
I bet if you look at 100 point games then compared to now for all of college basketball you will see the same trend. Exactly....Even the high scoring teams like NCarolina and Florida have few and far between 100 pt outings, but, I guess some people think that this years UK team should be pouring in 90-100 every game and nothing but run and gun...Sure it would be exciting, but, when your best ball handler (Jasper) is better suited for the half court set and there next best (Bradley) would turn it over about 2 out of 5 trips, kinda makes it hard to play that style, doesn't it...And before everyone says "it's not just this years team", let me just say, i'll take the wins vs losses over Tubbys tenure, anytime...If i'm not mistaken, he's in the top 3 in win% and avg # of wins for this decade... The Scribe
One thing I've learned over the years is that you manipulate numbers to say what you want them to. For the sake of arguement, let's break down some more numbers. In games decided by five points or less, Rick Pitino was 21-23 while at UK. Tubby Smith is 45-34. Does that make Tubby a better late game coach than Pitino? Does it mean too many teams are playing UK closer than they should? I think you can make arguements for both, when looking at JUST the numbers.
futurecoach
I disagree there! Jasper is not better suited for the half court set, in the half court set he is a liability because he does NOTHING in the half court. He would be much better off running...
